RUNNING TOURS IN CHRISTCHURCH

Go! Running Tours Christchurch is the best way to explore the Garden City of New Zealand. Come with us to explore the lush Hagley park, botanical gardens and Avon river trail while taking in all the sights of the central city. If trails are more your thing, join our longer tour where we make our way around the Port Hills trails which run along the eroded crater rim of a long extinct volcano with stunning 360 degree panoramic views taking in the Southern Alps, Banks Peninsula and a view over the city. So grab your running shoes and let your guide show you some of Christchurch’s best spots.

Running tours in Christchurch are a fantastic way of discovering the garden city of New Zealand. Christchurch is unique in that we are bordered by both hills and beaches, as well being a very green city making it an ideal running destination. There really is something for every runner and our running tours are designed to show you the best of what is on offer.

Christchurch was hit by a devastating earthquake on the 22nd of February 2011. 185 people lost their lives that day and 1500 buildings were destroyed or demolished as a result of the earthquake. Whilst it was a heartbreaking time for the people of Christchurch, it really brought out the strong Canterbarian spirit and the community bonded together to help each other out and recover from the earthquake. While we lost our iconic Christchurch Cathedral and a number of other historical buildings, Christchurch has now had the unique opportunity to be completely rebuilt. There are constantly new bars, cafes, markets, hotels and shops popping up, making the inner city a very exciting place to explore.

Outside the inner city we have a fantastic range of trails to explore in the port hills. Acting as a bridge between central Christchurch and the Lytlleton port are the port hills rising several hundred metres, created by a massive volcano 12 million years ago. The “Crater Rim” trail is one of my favourites. It follows the eroded crater rim of the historic volcano and provides the most stunning views of banks peninsula, the southern alps and Christchurch city. So get out and explore what our stunning city has to offer. Let your guide fill you in on the newest places in town to eat, drink and shop, as well as the old favourites and hidden gems. Get off the beaten track and explore the hills, and see Christchurch from the top of an extinct volcano.
