Barcelona…a city pulsing with energy and culture!
Right by the Mediterranean Sea, and bordered both in the north and south by two rivers, along with two recognisable hills that identify the city, Barcelona is a friendly city to sight-run. Thanks to its origins and interesting history, the city has many amazing locations to discover, with 9 UNESCO World Heritage sites among them! Its nice weather allows you to run all year round, even in the rain, never getting too cold to stop us from running.
Whether you are on a short business travel, have a short amount of time to see the city and don’t want to miss your training, or you are enjoying some vacation days in Barcelona, Go! Running Tours offers you the possibility to enjoy Barcelona in a fit, green, smart, time-saving, interesting and funny way.
I would love to show you around, as a local runner, and share my knowledge of the city with you.
Barcelona offers much to see: from the ancient roman walls, to the middle age palaces, gothic churches, modernism and the after-Olympic Games city… Over 2.000 years of history packed into an easily traversable area. You can experience one of its 9 beaches, and almost 4,5 km long seaside, or go for a trek or trail run in the Collserola “woods”, with its highest point located at 516 metres above the sea, only a few metro stations from the city centre. And what about the gastronomy? You can try anything from typical Catalan cuisine to elaborate and diverse dishes from all over the world. Besides the wide variety of museums and landmarks –do not miss the Sagrada Familia or the Picasso Museum. In the summer time you can also enjoy many open-air music festivals and movies, most of which are in their original languages.
For runners, the Barcelona Marathon is a must! Usually it is held in the second half of March and stays within the city for the entirety of it’s 42,195 km, so you can be sure that you see a lot of Barcelona! But you don’t need to wait until that day; why not run with us the next time you come to the city?
