Description
On this 10 km running tour you will encounter architecture in Aarhus developed during the last 1000 years, from the first cathedral to funkis-buildings and some of the newest architecture on the waterfront.
Starting at Aarhus waterfront, you will experience how this part of the city has undergone major developments with the construction of a new neighbourhood, and with modern and prestigious architecture rising up alongside wooden boats and outdoor activities such as an outdoor pool area and urban gardening. Before exploring some of Aarhus’ oldest architecture, we will run uphill from the city centre to have a closer look at the parkland and attractive architecture of Aarhus University.
Back in the city centre we will run through the narrow streets of the Latin Quarter and pass by some of the more hidden architectural gems mixed in with some of the most spectacular older buildings in Aarhus’ history such as Aarhus Cathedral and the city’s old Theatre – a must-see.
Heading back to our starting point, we will pass by some of Aarhus’ most notable buildings, such as art museum ARoS and the town hall. On our running tour, you will get a little taste of all the architectural wonders of Aarhus and its diversity. We will share with you some of the thoughts and motivations of the architects and hope that you will feel inspired to go and take a closer look at some of the buildings when you walk around in the city during your stay.
In Aarhus you can also run the PRIVATE MUST-SEE DOWNTOWN TOUR – 6K and PRIVATE SCENIC AARHUS TOUR – 10K.
