ANCIENT AND MODERN JERUSALEM TOUR - 10K

Take a run through Jerusalem's history and feel the energy and vibe of the holy city!

Runner on the ground - JENNIE

10 years of running

We will start the run near the Israeli Parliament – the Knesset – and continue towards the Israel Museum, Israel’s largest and most significant museum and the tenth-largest museum in the world. From there the run continues towards the center of town via Bezalel and Ben Yehuda Street. Runners will during this stretch savor the aromas of the nearby Machane Yehuda marketplace. We continue past the exclusive shopping mall and luxury hotel at Mamilla, the neighborhood that links the Old City with Jerusalem’s new and modern neighborhoods. As you enter the Old City through Jaffa Gate, take in the historical architecture, narrow alleyways, and the sense of the ancient Jerusalem stone beneath your feet.
Behold the glorious Tower of David, part of the fortress built in the second century BC to protect the city. Run through the Armenian Quarter, the smallest of the four quarters of the Old City, and recall Jesus’ final journey down Via Dolorosa located just a few hundred meters to the left. The tour then continues alongside the Jewish Quarter for a glimpse of the Western Wall, the holiest site for the Jewish nation and remnant of the Second Temple.
Runners will pass Sultan’s Pool, built over 500 years ago. This former water reservoir now quenches Jerusalem’s thirst for culture with the many outdoor performances that it hosts. As we make our way towards the finish at Ben Zvi Blvd., send an authoritative wave towards the President of Israel as you pass his official home in Talbia.

    Fab Way to See Jerusalem

It was pouring rain, and the hotel doorman could not believe we were still running. I was worried the run would be cancelled, too, but Orit was tough and a great guide. I loved our run through Jerusalem with her insights woven in. I didn’t realize how hilly the city would be, so I struggled a bit to keep up at first, but Orit was great about making sure I had time to catch my breath and have a good experience. I would definitely run with Go Running Tours again. Highly recommend it as a perfect way to start your work day. My only caveat is that they fully expect you to use What’sApp to communicate, so if you’re coming from the U.S., as I was, you might have to figure out how to download it and use it.
