Description
This is the all-in-one tour of all must see sights on Andros!
From the Lower to Upper Castle
From the Lower Venetian Castle at the edge of Andros town, we will follow the ancient stone footpath connecting it to the Castle of Faneromeni (or Upper Castle) at an altitude of 780 meters, passing through the valley of Dipotamata and the remains of ancient watermills. This ancient footpath is in itself a sight to admire, with wonderful handcrafted single flagstones paving the way. The view from the top of the castle remains is breathtaking. On a clear day, you can see half of the Aegean Sea, up to Chios and Ikaria islands. The Lower Castle, our starting point, is also visible from there.
Through the Villages
We will cross the seaside and mountain villages until we get to the 11th-century Byzantine monastery of Panachrantos near the top of Gerkonas mountain. is our next sand passing through the rugged mountain villages along the way. There, we will be able to refill with water and admire the traditional architecture, especially at the beautiful village of Lamira, as we prepare ourselves for the final approach towards our starting point.
