Description
Antigua Guatemala Trail Run is an excellent opportunity for those who, in addition to running on large and beautiful trails, seek to enjoy nature and do panoramic and bird watching in the El Cerro.
This route can start from the central park of Antigua or from the Church of El Calvario to shorten it a little, the site is located in the south of Antigua Guatemala, in the direction of the village of San Cristobal El Bajo. The entrance to the hill is through the Finca El Pilar. The place is well known by the locals as it has 2 large pools and a small eating area.
The type of forest in this place is mountainous, home to many species of animals such as coyotes, squirrels, quails, skunks, and birds of various species as well. The climate is warm to hot most of the year during the day, during the early morning, it can get quite cold.
In the middle of the city running tour, there is a small complex of country houses and a spectacular view of the volcanoes, also a small farm with goats, horses, and poultry works there.
At the top of this hill, there is the viewpoint of the Amatitlán lake and the Pacaya volcano; with a little luck, you can appreciate part of the capital city.
The entire route can be done in 2.5-3 hours at a moderate pace. This Antigua Guatemala Run is an incredible way to combine a colonial route with a trail route; it involves running through a large forest and climbing a mountain outside of Antigua Guatemala City
