The Asheville XL tour allows you to experience all of the necessary elements that make Asheville, well, Asheville! You will glide through the city streets from downtown into the River Arts District as well as hip West Asheville all while soaking in the local culture and ambiance this city has to offer. This tour highlights Asheville’s international claim to fame as a culinary, beer, nightlife, and musical experience all wrapped into one. If it’s gourmet donuts your looking for, we’ve got it! Vortex and Hole crank out these delicious little nuggets daily! If you want to bask in the diverse musical sounds from local, national, and international bands, we’ve got it. The Grey Eagle, the Orange Peel, and Isis Music Hall are just a few of the sought after music venues in town. Thai, Latin, Southern, Dim Sum, we’ve go it! There are too many too mention, but we’ll go start with Tupelo Honey, Red Ginger, Curate and Buxton Hall! Basically, we’ve got it!
The tour kicks off in Pritchard Park at the Deco Gecko statue which is central to downtown Asheville. This area, once known as a hog wallow during Asheville’s earlier days and former post office site is now a small triangular park lined with trees and park benches to take a load off and people watch. During the warmer months, there is an epic drum circle that takes place every Friday night. It’s even better when you bring a drum and join in. A sight and sound not to be missed.
Asheville has a lot to look at! This tour has been specially crafted to highlight the glorious pieces of artwork and artisans that dot the city. The city is vibrant with color thanks to the many murals and statues embedded into the landscape. Cleverly designed works commemorating Asheville’s notables, superheroes, flying squirrels, and lady Asheville are just a few picture worthy stops along the way. The River Arts District also gives you a nice run along the banks of the French Broad River. We also point out the best places to get above it all and see the mountains and sunsets from a bird’s eye view…so to speak!
These are just a few examples of the wonderful sights, sounds, and smells you will experience on this incredible running tour through what Forbes magazine calls one of the top fifteen coolest places to go…in the world!
