Runner on the ground - RATCHANEE

10 years of running

Bangkok all in one – the most comprehensive running route that you can imagine. It includes China Town, The Grand Palace and Riverside.
Welcome to the half marathon running tour where you will pass all the Must See attractions of Bangkok. We will start our running tour from Bang Rak and continue to China Gate which is the entrance to Chinatown. This area is a mix of Chinese and Thai cultures and boasts several market alleys and street food stalls. It is a unique, fascinating and photogenic place.
Half way through the route on our way to discover the Rattanakosin Island, is a historic area in the Phra Nakhon District in the city of Bangkok. This area houses some of Thailand’s most famous landmarks, including Giant Swing, the Grand Palace, Wat Phra Kaew and Wat Pho. We continue the running tour by heading uphill to the Rama VIII Bridge on the Chao Phraya River. The River of Kings is the major river in Thailand. There are many small canals (khlong) which split off from this main river and local people still live, work, and play along the Chao Phraya.
On this running tour, you will enjoy incredible river views from the Santi Chai Prakan park at Phra Sumen Fort. Located at the northern tip of Rattanakosin Island right next to the main river, this park is a precious, intimate green jewel. There is Banglamphu Museum nearby, which is an abandoned printing house and toady a place for the public to learn about the neighbourhood’s long history and living culture.
Running away from the riverside to Ratchadamnoen Rd. we pass several government offices including the Government House and the Democracy Monument. Upon our return, we will see Wat Saket. This structure temple is best known for its 80 meter high hill called “Golden Mount” and the huge gilded stupa on top of it. There is 318 steps to climb up the hill, but its worth the effort as once upstairs you will have magnificent views of Bangkok in all directions. It was once the highest point in Bangkok and truly a place you should not miss when you visit Bangkok.
A small local advice: dress Appropriately – when you visit most Thai temples. No short pants or short skirts. Shirts must also have sleeves; no spaghetti string straps allowed. On this tour we will not enter the temples so this advice is simply in general.
