This morning Beach Sunrise Playa Del Carmen run starts before sunrise offering runners to delight beautiful landscapes; as you run, the rising sun provides a rainbow of changing light that will reflect on the seawater making it magically turquoise color and will appear buildings floating on the sea, that is the famous Cozumel Island.
Running on the sand make you a stronger runner is harder than on the pavement; we will begin with 3 km in a good place on the north end of Playa Del Carmen is an extended section of 5th Avenue, this section has a nice sidewalk you might see an occasional snake on the grassy side of the trail since there is a large mangrove area there.
A paving stone street in between the jungle will lead us to “Esmeralda Beach” here’s where our exciting and gorgeous run alongside the ocean begin; Don’t expect to run your usual pace, sand running is, quite honestly, not an easy feat but being able to jump in the water after you’re finished will make it worth your effort.
Along the sea the extensive beaches offering beautiful scenery for you to run past, most of all over sand is compact although there will be some challenging areas with soft sand where we will share our tips to past thru successfully. Another great place is the Xcalacoco beach that looks like a giant pool, with the iconic deck’s great spot for Pictures.
We will run in the beaches where some famous and exclusive resorts are located such as Gran Velas and Mayakoba with alluring swimming spots would be a good place to jump in the water to refresh and start our running back.
This route crosses a cenote (Mayan sinkhole) where your shoes will get wet or you can try barefoot running for the last 1 km, the soft white sand is composed of coral, which means that the sand remains cool even when it is baking hot. Here though, the sand is cool underfoot, by this point we will be close to our end on 38th Street that remains the wild spirit of what was this fishermen town.
This Sunrise Playa del Carmen Tour is particularly suited for the ones who love the beach, we will run on the coastline for 9 k, an early beginning with the reward of being on the beach while nobody is there.

Important Information about the outfit:
- Wearing loose clothes while running will give you airflow to your skin.
- Good sunglasses and visors are nice to have. Visors are nice because they shade your face and but still leave the top of your head open for airflow.
- Having a sweat towel can come in handy as you wipe the sweat off your face and keep it out of your eyes.
Wearing dark color shorts, pants, or leggings. Light color shorts, like grey or light blue, will make a funny looking wet mark on your shorts when the sweat runs down your body.
