BRATISLAVA CITY CENTER TOUR - 10K
Runner on the ground - LUBKA
On this tour you will see the heart of the city of Bratislava and a little bit more. We will run through the coronation path where the Habsburgs once put on their crown and threw golden coins to the crowd. This will lead us to St Martin’s Cathedral, where 11 Hungarian kings and 8 of their wives were coronated. On the top of the Cathedral there is still a 150kg gilded crown to commemorate this era. We will then run through little historical streets to the oldest Church in Bratislava, gothic Francisy Church from the 14th century, where kings named the knights of the city. We will run also through the last remaining gate, which divided the castle fortifications from the village in front of it – Michal’s gate, with the phenomenal Michal’s Tower on top.
We will climb up to admire the magnificency of Bratislava castle and to enjoy a breathtaking view from the castle hill from where we will have a breathtaking panorama of the city. Bratislava Castle was always an important centre of events, dating back to the late Stone Age, when it was the Celt’s fortified settlement. It served as a fortress, a royal seat, army headquarter and now there is a museum to commemorate all of these different times.
We will run on both of the banks of the river Danube, to see the city from a little bit of distance, and to catch a glimpse of the beautiful surroundings, river forests and parks. On our way we will run by numerous photo spots, where we can stop to catch a breath and snap a picture as a bonus.
