Whether you’re visiting Toronto for the first time or a local, this fun festive 5km is an excellent way to get into the festive spirit! We’ll end up at the famous Toronto Christmas market in the Distillery district. Beginning in the heart of Downtown Toronto, we’ll make our way east towards the market. As a morning run it is the perfect way to start your day and we’ll arrive at the market before the crowds get there and maybe grab ourselves a nice hot drink. If you’re not a morning person, we can head there in the evening and admire the festive lights with a hot cup of mulled wine! Along the way we’ll pass the iconic CN Tower and also get urban glimpses of the city high rises. At the waterfront, we’ll continue along the popular cycle route, the Martin Goodman Trail. All the while, you’ll hear fun and quirky facts about the city, whilst taking in the amazing views of the Toronto Islands and Lake Ontario.
Next we’ll head up Yonge Street, once dubbed the longest street in the Guinness Book of Records. From here we’ll head further east and you’ll note the change in architecture from glassy modern high rises to a mixture of rustic red brick style. We’ll run past St. Lawrence Market, a public market that has been held on that site since 1803, and then end up in the heart of the distillery district which is home to the Christmas Market.
