Kicking off at Sand Key Park, this running tour takes runners off of Sand Key and onto Clearwater Beach for a little history tour of this sunny paradise, most commonly known for its world-famous sunsets.
The tour begins with a brief uphill on Sand Key Bridge, where runners will loosen up their legs as they take in the Gulf and intracoastal views that surround them. As they descend into the not so quiet beach town, that is Clearwater Beach, runners will follow their guide along the water and around the town stopping at a total of 3 stops (4, if you include the start – which is also a historic/educational stop).
The first of these stops is not too far off of the bridge – The Clearwater Beach Hotel – Clearwater Beach’s longest running hotel and one with some fun stories to go with it – sure to be found interesting by runners and non-runners, alike. Next up runners will head out to Pier 60 – a must-see for anyone in Clearwater Beach and a must for selfies, as well! You’ll definitely want to come back out later that evening for sunset at the pier if you have time. From the pier, your guide will take you further along the water and ultimately will loop around to go by the Clearwater Beach Mural where runners will learn about the mural, itself, as well as the elements within it and their importance in Clearwater Beach’s history. From here, your guide will take you back for one more push up and over the Sand Key Bridge and back to where your run began.
And for anyone with concerns on pace – The run/jog will be at a 12/minute mile with stops, so it is very beginner friendly! We hope to see you Saturday!
