COPENHAGEN BEER RUNNING TOUR - 5K
Runner on the ground - LENA AND MICHAEL
Denmark is known for our beers, the most famous one being Carlsberg. While this is “probably the best beer in the world”, this running tour dives a little deeper into the Danish beer culture. See smaller breweries and get an insight to and a taste of the Danish beer culture…all while working up a sweat. We want to take you off the beaten beer path in Copenhagen.
This 5 km running tour guides you to 5 different bars and breweries in Copenhagen. From the hipster beer bar to the traditional and very famous værtshus (traditional bars/pubs). Here smoking is still allowed (against the law we are sure – shhh), everyone is on first name terms and the owners have been behind the counter for decades. The beer running tour also includes a few micro brewery stops. This is where we get up close with the tanks and see where they make the beer.
With each stop runners will have a tasting sample of a beer of the owners choice. This will change according to season, what’s on tap and what’s brewing. So your guide will be just as interested and surprised by the beer as you will. The tastings are small so we don’t expect you to be staggering by the end of the run. There is of course always the option to not drink up (something utterly against the Danish beer culture 😉).
Pace:
The beer running tour is an easy going run. We run at a leisurely pace with plenty of time to catch your breath. If you are an elite runner then leave the Garmin at home and expect to run slow but in the greatest of company. If you are a beginner lace up tight 😊. We expect a running pace of 6.30 min/km but would like to see this as a running tour that is available for everyone.
The tour:
The tour starts by the Hans Christian Andersen statue by City Hall. As we run away from the city centre expect to see places of Copenhagen away from the beaten tourist track. We guarantee you that we will also show you beer places that are traditional to the core and that tourists only visit if they are lost or in dire need of a beer.
We will finish the tour at the small brewery Brewpub where it is also possible to buy something to eat. In lunch hours we warmly recommend the Smørrebrød (traditional Danish lunch) – a real must taste while you are in Copenhagen. If you brave enough you can go all the way and order a Snaps (shot) with your Smørrebrød. There is also a burger if you do not feel like an adventure in Nordic Cuisine.
Finally, in the name of straight talk, setting expectations and enlarging the fine print, then this run is entirely at the participants own risk……
