Runner on the ground - LENA AND MICHAEL

10 years of running

This running tour is approximately 10 kilometres long and we will run past the main sights in Copenhagen including the Parliament, the Queen’s castle, Nyhavn and the Little Mermaid. Runners will run through the old city, almost able to feel the buzz of the old market square. By The Little Mermaid there will be time for a few photos and even if the place is full of tourists, your running tour guide is an expert in taking photos with the minimal amount of tourists in the background. You will be able to get up close and personal with the Royal Guards and on a good day even get a glimpse of a member of the Royal Family. And who would have thought that on this running tour you have the chance to see one of the world’s best statues?!?

In best Go! Running Tours style, this running tour has been planned with the beautiful scenery of Copenhagen in mind and we will be running along the canals and the harbour as well as through some of Copenhagen’s many parks.

We keep our running tours very informal and on our private running tours we run at the desired pace of the individual guests. There is always plenty of time to ask questions, take photos and take in the view. So if you are worried about the pace, about falling behind or about your guide leaving you in the middle of an unknown city, then rest assured – this tour is your tour, and we leave no one behind 🙂

This running tour lasts approximately 1½ hours and in that time you will have covered the majority of the Copenhagen sights, leaving you with plenty of time to see other less touristy parts of our fantastic capital.

Private City Tour Highlights:

  • Little Mermaid

  • Nyhavn

  • Parliament

  • Queen’s castle

  • Operahouse

  • Citadel

  • Rosenborg Castle

This was a perfect way to see Copenhagen! Michael was the perfect guide and the route took in a lot (?all) the major sights in Copenhagen. It was particularly lovely to get to see them without anyone else around. Would highly recommend.

“Probably” the best guided tour in Copenhagen

    Hallie French

The Copenhagen Go!Running tour was the absolute highlight of our trip. We were able to appreciate the feel of the beautiful, waking city, got an insiders perspective of the local culture, were provided relevant and interesting historical tidbits, and got recommendations for all the top (less touristy) food spots. 10/10, would both recommend to a friend as well as book another tour for our next visit. “Probably” the best guided tour in Copenhagen. 😅

    Amazing historical journey with Michael

    Mohammed Aljofairi

I had the pleasure on going on a 10K tour of Copenhagen with Michael, and he was an amazing guide and very understanding to your running pace. We went through the modern and historical city going to the Queen’s palace and main square and saw the major attractions and buildings. Michael explained the context behind the buildings and even some fairytales and legends concerning historical people in those places. It really puts things in perspective. I would certainly recommend Michael and this company for all runs in Copenhagen.

The best way to see Copenhagen

The tour was a fantastic way to see the best sights of the city. Michael was friendly, interesting, and full of useful information. His tour brought the city alive, and we really got to know the city sights in depth. The pace was structured for my ability (slow 🤣) and Michael took the time to make lots of suggestions for places to see later in our trip. This is our third GRT in different cities (and our favourite!). We would highly recommend them as a perfect way to see a city as the locals do.

Really enjoyed our running tour with Michael – a highlight of our mother/daughter city break! Our fears about being too slow were unfounded and we had a really great time on a stunning sunny morning. Michael was full of interesting information and took us to some fantastic sites, both traditional and less conventional! His recommendation for cardamon buns was also superb! Highly recommended.

It was an absolut highlight of our citytrip and an excellent way to discover the city of Copenhagen. With his information, we can make the best of our trip. Best way to see a city. So much more insight and knowledge than if we’d have been on our own. Lena also gave us tips on where to see and go to make the best of our stay. Can’t recommend highly enough.

    Cara Turano

Michael met me at the main train station as I was actually staying in Sweden and then we had the most informative tour I’ve been on in a LONG time. I loved all the insight into the history of the city, am leaving as a much more knowledgeable tourist and had a really solid run. I have already told all my friends to look in any city to see if there is a Go Running Tour. KUDOS for this creative way to explore a city!

    Experiencing Kopenhagen at its best!

    Rike

We really enjoyed the early morning running sightseeing-tour with our guide Michael. Getting an overview of all the most important places in the city and some insight into its history was a perfect start to our short Kopenhagen trip. Due to the fact that we met with Michael (who kindly picked us up at our door) quite early, we got to experience an awesome sunrise at the harbour and some peace and quiet to take in the beauty of the city just coming to life. We ended up with a couple of really cool pictures, some of which Michael provided to us after the run. We would both highly recommend this tour to anyone, it just combines the best of all things we enjoy doing: getting a little workout done before having a good breakfast, seeing the city without crowds of tourists and chatting to someone who loves running as much as we do (special thanks go to your cafe & food recommendations) – thank you, Michael! 🙂

    Felice Shohet

We loved every minute of our Copenhagen bucket list running tour with Lena. She is an incredible host and tour guide for Copenhagen. The run was at the perfect pace. The stops along the way were welcome. We got to see many highlights from Copenhagen. And Lena was so kind as to give us many restaurant and activity recommendations during and after the tour to make our visit to Copenhagen even more special. I highly recommend this tour and would recommend doing it early in your stay though doing it at any time would also be wonderful.

Excellent way to see Copenhagen without the crowds!

    Sissy

Ran with Michael three times during my stay in Copenhagen. The website was informative with distances and tour highlights. The booking process was easy and was followed up with an email asking a few more questions to match me with the appropriate guide. Michael was on time to my hotel and allowed me to set the pace. We would run and he would chat about the area asking me a few questions about my visit and then we would slow to a walk explain a tour highlight and then off we’d go again before returning to my hotel. In at least one highlight on each tour, he took a photo of either us or me by myself. He spoke along the way of things I can do on my own and then, much to my surprise, he emailed me post run with a Strava link to our run, including a narrative of our highlights and additional recommendations and a picture he took as a memento. It was a great way to see the city early in the morning.

    An experience you won't forget!

    John Velandia

What a great experience! It is the first time I travel and take a tour after lockdown (May 2021) and it was a beautiful quasi-first time! I was on a business trip and the schedule was tight and uncertain, which didn’t matter because days before the tour Lena patiently answered all my questions, even those that were obviously already answered on the FAQ (don’t be me, read the FAQ before sending them an email…) Michael was my guide and was approachable from the very beginning and from there it just got better: No buckets of excessive historical information and facts that you will forget after a couple of minutes, but just the right amount of information that is told nicely and eloquently enough for you to actually make sense of it and surprisingly remember it after your trip is over! patient when I needed to slow down during the run or when I asked for anything, and a great personality that kept it professional but real and friendly at all times. During and after the run, I felt looked after by them too: recommendations on hidden places to visit and local food to try, tips and tricks, you name it. Either you run sub-3 hrs marathons, or you are working towards your first 5k, you’ll have a lot of fun with this tour if that’s what you are looking for!
PD: The emails I got from Lena are some of the funniest I’ve gotten in quite a while… Quite a shame didn’t manage to meet her!

I’ve been running with Go! ceveral times in ceveral destinations and every time i have this “wow-feeling” of being guided through a city by someone who clearly is passionate about their running and their job as a tour guide.
Right now i am looking forward for the world to open up, so i can explore the world with a Go! Running Tours guide.
I highly recommend anyone to check to take a running guided tour with Go!

Just returned from 2 weeks/4 countries and all agree that our city tour run in Copenhagen with Kim was one of the best things we did. We learned new things about the city, saw areas we had not before, he took fun pictures, and overall gave a great run. He maintained our pre-discussed pace exactly. Perfect ratio of run/stop for every ability in our group. Highly recommend!!

Thank you Kim for a fantastic running tour of Copenhagen. It was my first visit to Copenhagen and what better way to start it than an early morning running tour. I was out the door and back before the rest of the family were awake and the family day of sightseeing was all the better for Kim’s local knowledge that he shared during the run. The local knowledge that you can never find in a guidebook. The pace was great and the time flew. I ve done a few running tours but Kim’s was the most interesting. Thank you so much for all your hard work Kim. Such a great tour didn’t happen by chance and I really appreciated it.

Spent three days in Copenhagen last week. Found this midway during my stay and, despite the short notice, Kim was able to arrange an early morning tour on my last day. Henrik met me promptly at my hotel and we set off for a tour of the city. It was a beautiful, crisp sunny day and at 7.30am the city was fairly quiet. Henrik was great company and very informative. He took me to all the major sites including the various palaces and The Little Mermaid but we also ran through some lovely quieter parks that I’m sure I wouldn’t have seen if I’d been on my own. We covered just over 11km but as we stopped frequently he could tell me about the sites so it didn’t seem like a very long run. Fortunately he did most of the talking as I’m not the fittest runner and would have struggled to hold a conversation.
Henrik was full of fascinating information about the various sites and their history. I will not be able to look a a woman walking a dog in Copenhagen the same way again!
Overall I loved this concept of a running tour and it was a great way to view a wonderful city. Kim, who runs the outfit in Copenhagen and who we met on our run, was extremely efficient and answered all my queries promptly.
Would thoroughly recommend this to runners of all abilities.

My wife and I had a very enjoyable run with Lena. I’ve always thought that if you like to run or jog and you like to explore new towns and cities, that a running tour would be ideal and this tour proved that theory absolutely. Lena was great company and had lots to tell us about her city, Copenhagen. It was the highlight of our weekend. Thank you Lena and the rest of the Go Running Tour team!

I ran the 10km city tour with Kim this morning and it surpassed all my expectations. I received a comprehensive history lesson about Copenhagen in general plus great insights and stories about the individual places we stopped. The tour is a great way to see the city and Kim is full of insider information – he gave me some nice tips on places to eat, where to take my kids etc. I highly recommend booking a run with Kim when you are next in Copenhagen.

RAN this tour led by Kim this morning. It was fabulous! I’ve always thought running was the best way to see the city and the theory is confirmed. Kim was very knowledgeable and experienced. You can tell he loves running and loves his city. He kindly adjusted to my molasses-like pace. He took pictures along the way for me and forwarded the run info afterwards, so bonus! Even the weather was beautiful! (Ok, can’t promise that one for your tour…). Now I’ve learned about Go Running Tours, I’ll be sure to look it up at other locations in my travels.
