Runner on the ground - LENA AND MICHAEL

10 years of running

On the Copenhagen Half Marathon Tour, Runners will have the chance to wave and bump into the Royal Family while also rubbing shoulders with the pushers at Christiania. You will run past the most expensive apartments in the city, the mind-blowing houseboats and also through the quaint canals and 16th century houses.

This tour will take around 2-3 hours and all through the tour we chat away about politics, culture and traditions while also sharing some local insights. This is truly a unique chance to get an amazing run here in Copenhagen, while being in the company of a local Dane who is eager to let you into the Danish heads, culture and city.

After our Copenhagen Half Marathon Tour runners will have seen most of Copenhagen and can with good conscience splash out on the gourmet restaurants in Copenhagen, or venture outside the city.

Do we run the official Copenhagen Half Marathon Route?

No, absolutely not, and here is why. The official Copenhagen Half Marathon route goes via the main roads of the city and this would be a very boring tour with lots of traffic and many stops. Instead we have planned a route that allows a good running flow while also passing the most interesting areas in Copenhagen.

What are you waiting for ? Go go go go go!

In case you are looking for the official Copenhagen Half Marathon then it is in September every year and organised by our good friends Sparta. We can thoroughly recommend it and you can read more about it here. The Copenhagen Marathon takes place every May and you can read more abut it here. Good Luck and enjoy!

Reviews of the Half Marathon Tour:

“I highly recommend this tour as a way to jump into the city and feel like you are ready to absorb the culture at its fullest!” (Elizabeth, Canada)

“It was also awesome to have a guide to tell me where to run because, after this, I realized that I would’ve had a pretty hard time figuring out where to go myself! It was seriously the best part of my whole trip.” (Jennifer, Massachusetts)

“I’m still buzzing from my tour around Copenhagen with Henrik. Loved every minute!” (Pete, UK)

Are you travelling with your non-runner spouse/ boyfriend / girlfriend ?

Your partner is welcome to join the running tour on bike. (After all, Copenhagen is the most bike-friendly city. 🙂 ) Simply book him/her as an extra runner and add a note to the “What else should we know ?” section with the number of bikers.

You can rent a bike from our friends, Donkey Republic or likely via your hotel.

    Best way to explore Copenhagen!

We had the pleasure of going for a 21km tour around CPH with Lena, the founder, on our weekend trip to CPH. Lena was a fantastic tour guide showing us all the key sights of the city and offering up some top notch history trivia as well. We had the whole city covered by noon which meant we could spend the rest of the time walking around eating and drinking through CPH 😉

Awesome experience, and great way to see the city

My husband and I had the very lovely pleasure of having Lena, the CEO / founder of Go Running Tours host us for a half marathon! She was of course, incredibly knowledgeable of her home, Copenhagen. Brought us through famous sights, lesser known sights, and paths that were so woodsy that you forget you’re in a city! As runners, it immediately makes you feel at home to be able to run with a local and connect with something you’re passionate about right away. We’ll definitely be checking out tours when we travel to other locations in the future.

    Best Running Tour Ever!

    Dianne Dennler

Running with Lena in Copenhagen was the highlight of my trip to Scandinavia. Lena was so easy to run with. Throughout our run she kept checking with me to see if the pace was still ok and pointing out things of interest that you wouldn’t get in a normal tour. She had insight to what it was like to live in Copenhagen based on her personal experiences. My husband was able to rent a bike and ride along with us. He really enjoyed the tour. He felt as welcomed with Lena as I did.
If you choose to book a running tour with Lena you will not be disappointed.

    Worth every step!

One of the best decisions I have ever made! Michael is a knowledgeable guide as well as highly personable!! I don’t think we had a single moment of silence during the run! I can’t say the weather was too agreeable unless you enjoy being soaking wet but I suppose that’s the bargain you take when you visit!!!

Thanks again for the awesome experience, Michael!!

    You are awesome!

Definitely do this if you visit!

21 Km flies by in the much loved greener city of Copenhagen

    Peng Peng Loh

I asked for a route with fresh air and greener routes in the depth of winter, Lena found it, narrated it , the 21 km flies by in the nice stories of beautiful architecture, history, nature, people who loved their city and defended the green patches…. awesome run! Highly recommended!

    Amazing Run! Do It!

    Michael Brennan

Rain or shine this is simply one of the best ways to see the city and learn about its history. Lena and her team are amazing people and your kilometers/miles will fly by with great conversation. If you’re looking for a longer distance run and to truly explore some unique parts of Copenhagen by foot I can say that this is the right tour and that it was one the highlights of my holiday.

This was a very enjoyable run, and definitely good value. I’m only in Copenhagen for a few days so this tour was my big opportunity to see the city, and I was very satisfied with the outcome – harbour, royal palaces, parks, architecture, and a commentary including history, politics, running, and a bit of Hans Christian Anderson. Kim is an accomodating guide who fitted in with my pace easily (slower than his natural pace even though he gave 100% in the Copenhagen half marathon the previous day!), and chose the route. Yes, it was the full 21.1km.
Highly recommended – a great way to see the city . Thanks Kim

A great way to experince Copenhagen!

    Mike Whitehead

This is a great way to get a feel for Copenhagen.
Kim was super flexible with times so I was able to sneak in a cheeky half while the family was still in the hotel.
Going with Running Tours meant the run was much more than the standard ‘out and back’ run I would normally do in a city I didn’t know.
Recommend booking it early in your trip as you will definitely get to places you will want to come back to. And watch out – when you book the half marathon tour Kim really does make sure you get the full 21.1ks!
