The “Old Town Tour” is ideal to discover the heart of Cordoba. The running tour begins in front of the cathedral church, the highest religious building in Cordoba located opposite the Cabildo Mayor, the first building that concentrated the city’s political power.
The tour continues to the set of buildings declared world heritage: “La Manzana Jesuítica” composed of the Church of the Company of Jesus, the College Maximum, the University of Cordoba and the Domestic Chapel. In this part of Cordoba, it is as if the passage of time has stopped, and even today it is possible to breathe in the times of the Spanish colony of the 17th century. But this important set of buildings has another very interesting claim to fame. Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio, today Pope Francisco, lived here for two years (1990/1992).
Continuing the tour we run along the stream “La Cañada” that crosses the city center and bring us to a large green space ideal for urban runninig and physical activity. Here we will reach a set of squares composed by the promenade Marqués de Sobremente, Square Italy and square of the town hall, and in front of these the impresssive Municipal Palace. The running tour continues to Av Hipólito Yrigoyen until we reach square Spain, where we along the way view historic buildings and boulevards to finally arrive at square San Martin where we will finish the “Old Town Tour”.
Clarification: Due to the large number of people that travel through these streets, it is recommended to take this tour early in the morning or on weekends at a convenient time.
