On this running tour we will run from the main square in Cusco and start the climb to the ancient ruin of Sacsayhuaman which was built by the Inca Emperor Pachacutec between the XV and XVI Century. It is today a Unesco World Heritage site and offers unique insight to the Inca history and culture.
After running around the Sacsayhuaman ruins, we run to the “ White Christ “, which is an 8 meters tall white statue of Jesus Christ. It was built in 1945 by a local artist and is overlooking Cusco and the location offers stunning views of this former Inca capital. Now it is time to leave the beaten tourist path and hit some dirt roads and explore the Eucalyptus forest, where some of your Running tour guides live. Let´s check out where the local runners train and get close to the diverse and mind blowing nature of the Peruvian highlands.
On our way down from the “Top of Cusco” runners experience some of the local markets, churches 500 years old and lots of characters along the route. This place, is a true melting pot of cultures, colors and much more.
