DUBLIN BY THE SEA – 8K

We commence our running tour taking in the views of the opulent Victorian and also contemporary buildings of Dublin’s coastal town of Dun Laoghaire. Dun Laoghaire’s main attraction is, of course, the East pier. Generations of Dubliner’s have enjoyed views from here. We stretch our legs and start to move along the coast.

We make our way to Sandycove, famous for spotting the local seals and also home of the James Joyce Museum. The museum is contained in one of Dublin’s Martello towers. Continuing south, the route meanders through the colourful harbours, Bullock and Coliemore. Spectacular views of Dalkey Island can be seen and you forget you have just left the busy city.

Next stop on the running tour, is the historic and aesthetically pleasing village of Dalkey. The architecture, shop fronts and castle are full of character, no wonder U2’s Bono is a local resident. Let us hope we spot him. Taking in the red brick houses and the coastal village of Glasthule we arrive back in Dun Laoghaire where a famous Teddy’s ice cream can be eaten in the local landscaped people’s park.
