A daytrip to visit “Mineral del Chico” that used to be a silver and a gold mining area, but nowadays many runners and climbers come to these beautiful mountains, which are green all year around, to get close to the stunning nature and experience beautiful trails.

Stories of “Mineral del Monte” tell that the miners used to hide their treasures in the leftovers of their “pastes” (pasties in English) a kind of salty pie introduced by the British contractors from Cornwall England, when they came to explode the mines.
Mineral del Monte is part of a rocky mountain National Part in Hidalgo State and some of the best and most beautiful places to practice trail running.
In about 7 miles and almost 3000 meters above sea level we are going to explore this National Park, visiting places like “El Cuervo” natural balcony or “La Muela” and “La Cruz del Negro” boulder, all this surrounded by a pine, oak and oyamel forest.
A day trip that will take you to an epic journey through this stunning place located in the central region of Mexico land of Toltecs, one of the ancient pre-Columbian cultures in Mexico
After our run, we are going to enjoy of a Mexican meal with traditional food and a well-deserved beer in Mineral del Monte

Mineral del Chico is a great spot to go for trail running. With its amazing views, the tour finishes with breakfast literally at the top of the rocks! Everything was very well organized (schedule, transport and snacks). Citla is a super kind guide!
