If you’ve ever wanted to know a little more about Tampa’s history and a whole lot more about Tampa’s downtown ghosts, while getting your workout in, this the run for you! Combining roughly 4 miles of downtown Tampa running, with more ghosts than you can ask for, Go Running Tours is bringing you a new way to get out and get in the Halloween spirit!
In just a four mile stretch, this run not only brings you tons of ghosts and scary stories to tell your friends, but your guide will also give you some pretty awesome history on this amazing city that we’ll be exploring along the way. You’ll run to and learn about iconic buildings in downtown, such as the Tampa Theatre, Old City Hall and the former Tampa Bay Hotel (now University of Tampa / Henry B Plant Museum), just to name a couple. Your local guide will still give you all the info on the buildings and their history that you get on our normal downtown tour, but then you get all the awesome ghost stories layered on top of that!
Curious about some of the ghosts you’re going to be learning about on your tour? For starters, we’re going to be making a mandatory run to Oaklawn Cemetery, which is very busy with spirits (Mr. Ybor, himself, is buried in Oaklawn, as well as mobster Charlie Wall and several other well-known figures). The Tampa Theatre will be another important stop, as it too has quite a few ghosts to learn about – one in particular goes by the name of Fink (the old projector man at the theatre and a very active haunting at the theatre). Layer in an actress who committed suicide right on stage, buildings on top of burial grounds and the ghost of a little girl who burned alive and still haunts the intersection where the building stood, and you may be sleeping with one eye open after the tour!
So come out for some fun miles, new friends, lots of scary stories, and maybe even a haunted nightcap at the end at a local venue!
