MUNICH MURALS STREET ART TOUR – 9K

What if we told you that Munich was one of the first graffiti capitals of Europe along with London and Amsterdam, even before Berlin? On this tour, we’ll show you the rich and vibrant street art scene that has developed here since those early days in the 1980s.

The tour starts and finishes at Donnersbergerbrücke station, home to the largest street art gallery in Europe. This urban run will take you off the beaten path to show you murals by international street artists such as Blu and Shepard Fairey and world-class local artists such as Loomit.

The first stop on your sight-running tour will be the Donnersbergerbrücke street art gallery. Here, around 60 artists painted the columns under the bridge over seven years. The colourful murals here include a tribute to the spraying of the Geltendorf train in 1985, the first wholetrain in Europe, and arguably the event that put Munich graffiti on the map.

We’ll then explore the bustling multi-cultural Westend neighbourhood, passing many original 19th century historical buildings built as workers’ housing and factories, of which only the Augustiner Brewery survives.

Your sight-running tour will take you across the Theresienwiese, home of the world-famous Oktoberfest beer festival, on the way to Dachauerstrasse, where we’ll pass a whole series of stunning murals initiated by the fantastic Positive Propaganda street art non-profit art association. Our final stop will be the colourful Creative Quarter, a former industrial area filled with murals and transformed into workshops and event spaces for local artists.
