Description
Acatenango is a stratovolcano volcano located in the Acatenango municipality, department of Chimaltenango. It has two peaks, one from where you can see the top of the Fuego volcano and the other called Yepocapa. Standing 3,976 meters tall, Acatenango is the third highest in Guatemala. It is currently inactive; it last erupted in 1972.
Throughout the tour, you can appreciate views of other volcanoes as well. The great variety of flora (which changes with terrain and altitude), the lakes and villages around the volcano, its huge crater, and the incredible sights of the eruptions of the Fuego volcano make this a true ecotourism experience.
This tour offers you the opportunity to have unique and professional photographs taken by a highly experienced photographer using his professional camera. Daniel will amaze you with 35 exceptional images so that you can preserve the memory of this volcano experience. You will receive your photos through a file transfer platform.
We recommend wearing clothing and gear for climbing, such as non-slippery shoes, long pants (double), 1-2 coats for intense cold, a hat for sun protection, gloves, sunblock, hiking poles (optional), and bottled water. The difficulty level is 7/10. The 1-day tour without camping starts with the first rays of the sun from La Soledad Village. At a moderate pace, the ascent takes approximately five hours. We usually stay at the top for an hour, plus four hours of return, accompanied at all times by a local guide. Come and enjoy this natural wonder that offers you a beautiful country called Guatemala.
