Description
This running tour pretends to show all the essential places of this beautiful natural park, because due to its large size it is impossible to cover everything in it.
Located between Ibiza and Formentera, the salt marsh natural park Ses Salines, along with the adjacent marine and land reserves, sprawls form the south of Ibiza to the north of Formentera and covers the channel that separates both islands.
The Ses Salines Park is a prime example of the Mediterranean’s rich biodiversity. The uniqueness of this park resides in the fact that it is a rest area and nesting ground for countless birds, along their migratory paths. As a Natural Area of Special Interest, the park includes a diverse range of land and marine habitats of vast international ecological, landscape, historical and cultural value.
We start this tour from the heart of the park, right next to the mountain of salt that is formed by piling up the dozens of tons extracted from the ponds.
We run among ponds of varied colors to the beach of es Cavallet and we cross some paths of dunes between sabina trees.
We cross the coast parallel to the cliffs that form natural pools due to the ancient extraction of stones for the construction of the walls of Dalt Vila.
Then we get to the watch tower of Ses Portes, which defended the salt industry from pirate attacks.
The running tour gets to the beach of Ses Salines, the most emblematic of Ibiza by the color of its crystal clear waters, its natural environment and the restaurants on the sand. Although before arriving we show you some of the hidden coves that us locals look for when we want to enjoy peace and tranquility.
We will see the pier that the salt industry uses to ship tons of salt to the northern countries, the main consumers of Ses Salines salt.
Please let me know if you feel offended when you see naked people, so we can modify the route to avoid them;-)
We offer a longer tour that runs the park in its entirety in 18 km of pure pleasure.
