Marathon and Makanthon
For most Malaysian, the best culinary delights that Malaysia offers are not at the swanky expensive restaurants but right at the sidewalks, in the rows and rows of hawker stalls. The fusion of Malay, Chinese, Indian, Western foods over a long period of time offers the patron something unique not available anywhere else outside Malaysia. As we run along Jalan Alor & Petaling Street, you will be mesmerised by the number of stalls taking up both sides of the road selling food, fruits, beverages that best represent Malaysia. You will find both locals and foreigners frequently visit this street to taste the uniques variety of dishes that you would most probably not be able to find anywhere else outside Malaysia.
Eat to Run and Run to Eat!
You will appreciate the terms Malaysian runners describe as Marathon and Makanthon, whereby ‘makan’ means eating in local terms. Literally we need to run more to eat more! Yes, our eateries outlets are open 24 hours a day around the corner, just like the convenience stores. It would be a great accomplishment if you can maintain your weight while in Malaysia, forget about losing weight as this would be mission impossible.
Next, as we need to burn those extra calories, we will run through KLCC park with the majestic view of the World’s tallest twin towers on our side. You will understand why KLCC park is the favourite place for runners, both locals and visitors.
Then we will encircle the Bukit Nanas Eco-Forest with the KL Tower sitting on the top of the hill. This is one the original natural forest right in the middle of KL downtown. You will hear, smell, and taste the sounds, sights & aroma of a tropical rainforest jungle in the heart of KL.
Finally, as we returning to the starting point, you may drop by at the Central Market for some views of the authentic artefacts and local cultural products before finishing at where we first started. You will get to view and be mesmerised by the sights of the River of Life and the Dataran Merdeka at night. Beware, you will fall in love with KL.
