Description
If you’re interested in an educational and extraordinary point of view of where Las Vegas began, the Historic Railroad Trail Run is for you. Designated as a National Recreation Trail in 2015, this trail offers a glimpse into the rich history of Hoover Dam and offers scenic views of Lake Mead.
We’ll meet at the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, located near beautiful Boulder City, approximately 30 miles from the Strip. Plan to enjoy amazing views of the lake as we run a little more than six miles on this out-and-back trail that is part of the Rail-to-Trails Conservancy and National Park. This wide, flat trail follows a former railroad grade through a series of five tunnels constructed in 1931. We’ll stop along the way to take in the amazing views of one of the largest artificial lakes in the US. And learn a little history about the construction of the Hoover Dam. Besides, we’ll snap some photos along with one of southern Nevada’s most unique trail experiences!
