Your run starts at the national historical part, next to the Monument of Remembrance, an important place for the Luxembourgish population.
Running through the justice quarter to the Grand-Duchy Palace, you will have some panoramic views over the Old Town-Fortress part.
The 1st step you will take into the European historical part of this running tour is the birth house of Robert Schuman, the EU –founding father. Then the running tour guides you to the Monument of Robert Schuman, over the “Red Bridge” and straight away you find yourself in the heart of the European district. Running along the “Philharmonie” and the Schuman-building, you then cross to the “Place de l’Europe” for another step back in time to the Fort Thüngen, a ruin part of the fortress of Luxembourg. This stretch is a true melting pot of history with the old fortress history combined with more recent European history.
Next up is the “Hemicycle” and the Convention Center, where you will run to the European Court of Justice and the General Secretariat of the European Parliament. The member flags of the European Union decorates the big squares and you can truly feel that you are in the very heart of Europe.
Before you will access to something more sportive, the “Coque”, an Olympic swimming pool, you will pass the Court of the Auditors. Running a lab around this seashell-shaped Olympic building, after to get back to the Chamber of Commerce.
In the distance you can see the EIB-European Investment Bank – an impressive modern building that in itself is worth a second glace. Runners continue back to the “Red Bridge” and suddenly find themselves in the central park of Luxembourg-City.
Passing some significant buildings situated in this park, your route will take you through the city center and back to the “Gëlle Fra”.
