The Casa de Campo Running Tour takes you through what was originally the private hunting ground of the Spanish royal family. But in 1931 it was opened to the public.
Nowadays, covering a staggering 1.722 acres, it’s the biggest park in town (although it’s actually considered to be more of a forest).
Casa de Campo is the place to be for any nature loving runner, cyclist or picknicking families on Sundays. ‘Casa de Campo’ (‘Countryside House’) will give you a good idea of the type of nature Madrid’s countryside has to offer. You very well might bump into the local squirrels, rabbits, birds of prey and maybe even a small viper.
