MADRID MUST SEE TOUR - 10KM
You cannot leave Madrid withoutdoing a sight run of these 10 top sights in the city. Join me through the famous El Retiro Park, up Paseo de Prado, and along one of the most expensive commercial streets in the world - this is a run not to be missed.
Runner on the ground - PHILIP
10 years of running
This run kicks off at Puerta de Alcala with a “warm up” jog through the famous El Retiro Park, the most important historical-artistic park in the city and one of the most beautiful green urban spaces in the world. In the park we’ll stop at the Crystal Palace, which was constructed mainly out of glass and metal. Once out of the park we’ll venture up the tree-lined Paseo del Prado, where we’ll take a left at Neptune’s Fountain on the way up to Plaza Mayor which was once the centre of Old Madrid. From there we’ll head for the Plaza Oriente, where we’ll see the Royal Palace and its gardens on the one side, and Teatro Real opera house on the other. Further along we’ll pass the Plaza de Espana, which is currently undergoing a revamp, but this is where the statue of one of the most renowned authors, Don Miguel de Cervantes is situated. The statue portrays Cervantes’s most famous fictional characters, Don Quixote on his horse and Sancho Panza his trustworthy squire on his donkey. After passing Plaza de Espana, we’ll proceed to the Temple Debod, an Egyptian temple which was originally built 200 years B.C. We’ll then head back up the popular Gran Via which continues to be a main artery for the city of Madrid, lined with theatres and cinemas, hotels, shops and restaurants. At the top of Gran Via we’ll head down the Calle Preciados, one of the most expensive commercial streets in the world, towards Puerta del So where we’ll see the famous clock whose bells mark the traditional eating of the 12 grapes and the beginning of each New Year. Here we’ll also see the “Oso y el Madrono”(the Bear and the Strawberry Tree) ,which can be found on the Madrid coat of arms. On our way back we’ll pass the famous Cibeles Fountain, and the Cibeles Palace, two “must-see”landmarks. We’ll finish off at “Puerta de Alcala”, probably one of the most popular reference points and a “must-see” in this “not to be missed” Madrid city tour.

The route included several sites (with an added bonus of being quiet/empty in the morning) and Philip had abundant knowledge to share while maintaining a comfortable pace. A highlight of the trip. On my first full day in Madrid, I did the 10km run with Philip which was just amazing. Good pace, encouraging and full of knowledge of the history and places to go for food.
He is one of the nicest blokes you will ever meet and good for a laugh.
After this positive experience I am looking to book other runs with the company in the other cities I visit.

My husband and I had a great time running with Philip in Madrid. He was extremely personable, knowledgeable and led us on an excellent tour of Madrid, hitting all the highlights. I visited Madrid for work for the first time, and not knowing the city, chose to try Go Running for the first time as a way to get an overview and learn a bit about the new city on my first day. Phil is warm and friendly from the first point of communication and helped prepare a route that started at my hotel a couple of hours of landing, and ended up exactly where I hoped, at an Irish pub to watch a rugby match. I enjoyed the run, at a chatty pace (he could go as fast/slow as I desired), and learned some great trivia and tips about Madrid as we went. Overall a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours in a new city, to have knowledgeable running company. Thank you!

My husband and I joined Philip for the 10K must see tour of Madrid. We absolutely loved the running tour with Philip. He was an incredible guide. He was fun, super knowledgeable, and catered the pace to our needs. We enjoyed learning various historical facts about the city while seeing various beautiful sites. We highly recommend this experience. The running tour with Philip was 100 percent the highlight of our time in Madrid!

A great 10km with Robert. I learned a lot about Madrid. Going early in the morning worked well as I then went back to some places during the day to take a closer look. I’ve used GoRunning in various cities and find this a terrific format.

I really want to thank Philip for his incredible tour of Madrid. It was a fantastic success. A perfect balance of guided city tour and workout. He was super patient with the running pace which needed to fit all four of us (aged 12-53) and incredibly knowledgable about the city. I would highly recommend it!

This was the first running tour I have ever done and I met John at 9am to do the 10 km tour of Madrid. It was such a fantastic experience. I got to run and at the same time get a good sense of the important sites in Madrid, as I’ve never been here before. John was very knowledgable and extremely professional. He even showed me the nearest supermarket at the end of our run and escorted me back to the hotel. I enjoyed it so much that I’ve already booked every morning for the rest of my trip here!

This was my first Go Running Tours experience and i am so happy i chose to book! In fact so happy i booked a tour again the very next day!
We started at 6.30 which was perfect. The incredible nice and knowledgeable guide John picked me up at hotel, and showed me beautiful Madrid in the quiet morning. I highly recommend this tour!

Best idea I had since long time! Perfect way to discover most of the city alone with a personal guide. The “Madrid must see tour” covers the main sights and John provided a wonderful perspective on the city. John provided excellent service – including sending me photos of our run. The run is a great way to explore the city. I would not hesitate recommending these running tours and I will certainly book them again when I next travel. I can only strongly recommend it!
