Description
In the main parks 12K run, we will visit the Simon Bolivar Park in Bogotá. A complex of parks and green areas make the most extensive environmental corridor of the city. This run is specially designed for those who want to run close to nature but still be inside the city.
We will start our run at the entrance of Simon Bolivar Park, right next to the parking lot. Our run will take us first to the park’s outskirts and then slowly move towards the lake. After that, we will do a whole lap around the shoreline. And then move back to the outskirts to move to the Virgilio Barco Library.
This Library is part of the complex of Simon Bolivar Parks, but it has less vegetation and more gardens and fountains around it. We will again start on the park’s outskirts as we move slowly towards the Library building at the centre. This Library was constructed by the famous Colombian architect Rogelio Salmona and is a monument to his work in brick and the typical circular structures that he liked to construct.
From the Library grounds, we will move towards 63rd street to see the sports complex, the Couples Park and the NQS Avenue, where we will see two of the main cultural areas of Bogotá: The Movistar Arena and the Football Stadium. The Movistar Arena hosts some of the city’s main events, and the Stadium is the home to two Bogotanians.
