Description
Give your corporate event a healthy and active twist by involving attendees in a fun and social running tour through the heart of Manchester.
Manchester is an industrial city the North West of England. It has a wealth of architectural, historical and technological significance rooted in its past and surrounded by a maze of meandering rivers, waterways and canals which form part of its vibrant northern charm.
A running tour gives your guests, colleagues and delegates the opportunity to blow away the corporate cobwebs and explore the hidden gems of Manchester in a fun, healthy and sustainable way. More than that: it is a perfect networking and teambuilding opportunity and can be tailored for all guests and leaving no one behind.
For customised tours, we are able to meet the requirements of the events. Our two most popular options are a morning running tour, starting from a hotel lobby, and leaving plenty of time for runners to freshen up and eat before their busy day of workshops and talks. Or, an evening tour to reflect on the day’s events whilst blowing off some steam and exploring the city.
Being on foot will allow us to explore the metropolis of Manchester in all its glory. It has the perfect mix of historical roots, breath-taking architecture and vibrant culture. At the city’s literary heart, Manchester’s Central Library, you will be greeted by a magnificent Roman inspired columned portico and domed structure. We will Run across the site of the 1819 Peterloo Massacre, our tour will take us past one of the city’s most exquisite Grade II listed Edwardian styled buildings; The Midland Hotel.
We can also descend away from the bustling centre streets, and towards the peaceful banks of Manchester’s former industrial waterways and canals, passing in the process two of Manchester’s most famous music venues: The Bridgewater Hall, home to the renown and the site of the Hacienda Nightclub. Amongst the labyrinth of waterways lies Castlefield, once home to the Roman era fort Mamucium which gave its name to Manchester. In keeping with the industrial roots of the city, our tour then takes us past the city’s largest museum devoted to the development of science and technology: The Museum of Science and Industry (or MOSI as it’s fondly known to many Mancunians) Our tour will delve into gleaming regeneration project of Spinningfields; now host to some of the city’s finest gastronomies and 21st century architecture. A definite must see for food and drink enthusiasts!
Transporting us back to days gone by, you will meander through some of the city’s ‘hidden gems’ and pass by some of Manchester’s magnificent 15 grade I listed buildings: Manchester Cathedral, Manchester Art Gallery and John Ryland’s Library, to name a few! As a city which gave birth to, and raised, some of the most influential figures in history, it would be impossible to conclude a tour of Manchester without stopping off at some of the
abundance of memorials and monuments along the way to celebrate a city which is so rich in diverse culture, progressive industry and iconic legends.
