TRAIN WITH KENYANS - NGONG HILLS
Runner on the ground - DANIEL
Ngong hills is the home of most of the Kenyan athletic champions like former 2003 world marathon record holder Paul Tergat, 4 times Boston marathon Champions and many others. Now you have the chance to train amongst these world class runners and feel the elite vibe in this unique running hub.
Ngong Hills is 2200 m above sea level and you can spot runners any time of the day ,this is a good place with different weather condition… cold, hot and mist day. Running above 2200m above sea level, is a great way you can try to run in high altitude while enjoying the view of Nairobi city and the plains of Maasai land.
On this half day trip you will train with the elite, breathe in the atmosphere of being surrounded by world class runners and of course ask all your questions about training, running technique, race tactics etc.
This tour is a unique opportunity to meet the world running elite and meet people who truly live and breathe running. The tour is fully adjusted to your abilities and is a great experience regardless of whether you are at elite yourself or have just gotten into running. You will also have the chance to visit Ngong Town which is a quiet and busy town.
Flexible: Tour distance will be adjusted according to fitness level but guests can expect to run 1-2 hours. (half day trip)

This was a really fantastic experience that beat all my expectations. Everything to arrange meeting was very smooth (I was picked up on time and Daniel was there so waiting when I arrived), and Daniel had prepared a great route of the right length following the notes I had shared with him. I’d been in East Africa for a couple of weeks by this point but still found the hills/altitude challenging – Daniel was ready to adapt mid run including to accommodate a tweak in my knee. His photos and videos meant I didn’t have to think about getting my phone out all the time to try and capture it myself. Thank you Daniel and Lydia for the experience, I’ll definitely be doing it again when I return!

Best way to take a peek in elite Kenyan runners life!
Really enjoyed the time I spent with Daniel in Ngong hills! Daniel gave great insights in the life of Kenyan runners, as well as a lot of running tips. He is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about running. A great motivation for all of us recreational runners. Daniel takes great pics and videos while running and compiles an amazing video at the end. I would 100% recommend the activity!

Really enjoyed this! I normally only run 4-5 miles at a time, but ran 10 miles with Daniel and Lydia. They were both so wonderful. Arranged pickup and dropoff from my hotel in Nairobi to the Ngong Hills, and showed me all around this famous area where so many Kenyan world-record holders trained over the years. The hills are not to be underestimated. I do recommend wearing a water vest or pouch as the altitude quickly hits you and dehydration limited my performance. Would highly recommend as a way to get out of the city and stay active during your time in Kenya!

Daniel was the perfect host. After meeting in Ngong, he invited me into his home and then we set off. He was a great guide, giving me tips & advice on technique, and a fascinating insight into the life of a runner. The run was great too, the views amazing and you got insights into areas you would never otherwise go to! After going through some woods, we went up to the Ngong Hills. I would just say the main “hill” was tough – and I wouldn’t really call it a hill
– but so worth it. Daniel though kept on giving encouragement! He also found time to take an impressive number of great photos and videos.
Daniel made me feel very welcome and it was fantastic to be able to share his passion and knowledge of running. So glad I decided to do this.
As keen runners, we both really enjoyed the experience of running with the Kenyan athletes. I would recommend. Thanks

If you are a runner, you do not want to miss out on a run in the Ngong Hills with Daniel.
I booked a tour with him to relax after spending four exhausting days of work in a hotel seminar room. Leaving the treadmill behind to go running in the Ngong hills turned out to be the perfect choice to clear my head. It was energizing and the highlight of the trip.
Daniel is a great guide, communicated clearly before the run, he adapted distance and pace inuitively to me (don’t understimate the altitude!) and all the way I could geek out with him on racing, training methods and approaches.
I am sure it does not matter if you consider yourself a serious runner, an enthusiast or someone who just enjoys the occasional run, a run with Daniel is the perfect outing for anyone who loves running.
So when in Kenya do as the Kenyans do: Go for a run in the Ngong Hills.

Running with Daniel in Ngong is an adventure.
We run 13km under pouring rain this morning and it was an absolute blast.
Daniel put you in a position so you can be at your best.
His professionalism and his kindness are a pleasure for an amateur runner like me.
What you can see on film about Kenyan runner training, you can find it with Daniel in Ngong.
Long red path in the middle of the countryside, you almost feel like a Kenyan.
I came back home tired and happy.
I hope, I can come back soon for another run with him.

Our final day in Kenya and I got the running experience for my girlfriend as an early birthday present. Daniel was great, clear communication beforehand and flexible with the timings.
We met in Ngong and walked a short distance to the edge of town to meet with two other runners (Lydia and Alloys). A quick chat then headed out across some open areas and woods before heading up the Ngong Hills. We chatted about our running. Daniel gave us some tips and it was fascinating to hear about how the Kenyans trained (an impressive amount).
The climb up the hill was hard work! My girlfriend ran with Lydia and Alloys kept me company with Daniel returning between the two filming and giving encouragement. Amazing views from the top and a very satisfying to have run up! Then a fun descent back into Ngong past their athletics track. Daniel made us feel very welcome and really shared his passion and knowledge for running and training.
As keen runners, we both really enjoyed the experience of running with the Kenyan athletes. I would recommend. Thanks

So glad I did this! On my last day in Kenya, I signed up to run with Daniel. It was incredible, one of the high points of my visit. Not only was it a fabulous run through beautiful terrain, Daniel was a dream coach and host. He generously shared his experience, and listened to mine. The run was a full experience, topped off by chai, pastries, and more. I would love to run with you again Daniel.

I cannot say enough good things about this! Daniel was a phenomenal guide. I appreciated him answering all my questions, telling great stories, and offering advice for my future running. Alloys was also a great running companion. The route we ran offered wonderful views. If you are a runner and visiting the area, this is something you can’t miss! Do yourself a favor and make this a priority on your itinerary! I would also like to mention that I am a female and did this by myself and never felt safer.

My 10 yo old son is a distance runner in the USA. For many years it has been his dream to run with the Kenyans and Daniel made this happen!! Daniel is an extraordinary guide and running coach. He was absolutely amazing in organizing the trip for us. He also helped us coordinate the rest of our day. He is a superb runner and a terrific coach. The run in the hills is certainly not easy but it is magnificent. Daniel had several of his teammates come and this made it extra fun. It was such an absolute pleasure to watch my son run with Daniel and his team. He enjoyed absolutely every minute of it even though it was certainly tough with the incline and altitude. It was a wonderful experience and one that I know he will talk about for years to come!

I had an amazing run with Daniel and his friends. From organising the run via email to answering other questions I had about my visit Daniel was always happy to help and gave us lots of good tips. Our run was through the forests by Ngong then up to the hills where he was very encouraging as the hills got going! I would definitely recommend a run with Daniel and was one of the highlights of our trip!

Wow, what an amazing experience. Daniel is super responsive, organized my taxi, picked me up from the airport. We ran 15k through some super beautiful scenery at above 2000m altitude. All this with Daniel’s friends, all are serious pros. I So much to see and learn (not just about running). Daniel himself is one of the nicest people I ever met.
A MUST add to your bucket list !!

Had an amazing 20k run with Daniel and friends. Daniel mapped out a great 20k route through the forest, fields village and finally up the hill to get an amazing view. Followed to a visit to his house, and a tea and pastry. An amazing experience I would highly recommend.

I loved my run with Daniel from A to Z. Daniel is very responsive to communicate before the run. You can ask all the questions you need to make the best of you run and he will respond quickly. Daniel will adapt to any level and you can surely push yourself very hard on the Ngong hills. Daniel has also taken great pictures and video of the run. Finally, Daniel will give you technical advice to progress and will share his experience of the life of an elite runner. Thanks again Daniel and I will come back!

I rely enjoyed my run. Daniel is a fantastic coach. I’m training for the MDS2022 so Daniel designed a run to complement my training. The scenery was spectacular! He ran at a comfortable pace for me, no pressure at all. This was a lovely end to my time in Kenya. Thank you Daniel

I really enjoyed running with Daniel and his running mates. We got to see the natural beauty of the Ngong Hills, learn about the dedication it takes to be an elite runner, and get some tips on our own running form. It was a challenging but thoroughly enjoyable experience!

Daniel met me at 8:30 in Ngong, we walked to his house to drop my bag and began the run from Nearby. He asked me my preferred distance and we headed up into the Ngong Hills with another local runner. He spoke to me about technique and how to improve as well as guiding me around his local area – we talked the whole way. Afterwards we grabbed some tea and he made a great video of the run as a fantastic memory. I’ll keep in touch with Daniel and hope to run with him again – a great morning out and very easy to organise, definitely recommend. Thank you!

I had the most amazing half a day with Daniel. We met at a very easy to find location and set off for a beautiful run in Ngong Hills, picking up a few runners to join us as we set off. Daniel asked me what type of route I wanted and we did a hilly one, but it was definitely worth the effort. Daniel chatted away for the whole run and was so supportive when the altitude was getting a bit trickier. He offered lots of helpful advice and info on training and their local runners. Daniel even took us a little bit further as I wanted to go up one more hill! He was collecting video footage all the way along and put together a really beautiful video of our day together. After the run, we sat and had a coffee and then went on a tour of the village, discussing and trying the local produce.
I travelled in East Africa for 3 months, and this was one of my most favourite days. Daniel is such a lovely guy, and I have gained a friend out of this experience. If you are considering booking this, just do it. You will not regret it.

I really can’t recommend this tour highly enough! Daniel was a great guide; he was very welcoming and accommodating on pace and distance, and generous with tips and stories from his many years of professional running experience. The route is challenging, beautiful, and very convenient for a day trip from Nairobi. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for Daniel and his friends as they continue to compete in the global marathon circuit, and can’t wait to come back and run with them again! If you’re in Nairobi, even for a weekend, experience this tour.

I had a fantastic morning out on the Ngong Hills with Daniel and his friend. Daniel was incredibly accommodating managing to fit a late booking and moved his own training to do so. The route was excellent, with Daniel a wonderful tour guide, giving me information about the elite local runners, training camps and their training routes and sessions they did on Ngong Hills, tips on my running form on the hills, and very happy to accommodate my (slowish!) pace. For anyone who is thinking about a running tour near Nairobi, I could not recommend Daniel anymore, an incredibly warm and kind person – it was truly a fantastic experience to spend time with him and explore the Ngong Hills!

I have enjoyed an amazing day running with top elite kenyan runners, and also enjoying the Nairobi Marathon.
Daniel has prepared an incredible day. He is not only a top proffesional runner, but a great person. He has introduced me great runners, showed me where and how these elite runners live and train, and, we have enjoyed a 15 kms running, in an amazing scenario.
Everthing perfectly planned: logistic, food, relax and running.
If you are a runner, and if you come to Nairobi, you must talk with Daniel. You will enjoy an amazing experience, and you will meet incredible athletes.
Thank you very much Daniel!
Ill be back for sure.
You are the one!!!

Beautiful experience with Daniel and his colleagues.
I recommend 100%! Wonderful way to discovering the green Ngong hills around Nairobi.
A must-do activity for runners. Much better than running in Nairobi city.
Wonderful persons. Very patient (yes, you might be slower with the altitude!) and truly inspiring!
Keep up the excellent work.
Keep in touch! Thanks a million.

I spent three days running with Daniel and a small group of elite running friends, and had the most amazing experience. We spent each day exploring a different microclimate: one day in the forest, one day in the hills, and one day down in the Savannah running with the giraffes. And each day, we ended by eating warm flatbread and drinking Kenyan tea at a local cafe, while sharing our running stories. Daniel always has a big broad smile on his face and goes out of his way to make you feel welcome. He is a genuinely happy person, and his happiness in contagious! His love of running and for the Ngong Hills region comes through in everything he does. We did a total of 55k over the three day period, but he was happy to adjust the distance up or down for me. And he allowed me to pick the pace. These runners are amazing to watch in action, but even more impressive was the amazing countryside that we were able to explore and the hospitality that Daniel and his friends showed me while I was there. They went the extra mile in every respect. Anyone near Nairobe needs to put this on their itinerary.

Daniel organised for me to run with two of his running mates while he was racing abroad. They were really friendly and took me on a route up the hills and back. It’s a great experience, you see so many other fast runners, but Lydia and Erick were happy to go slow with me! They took some photos along the route which was nice as I forgot to take many – meant I have some good memories. I would recommend this tour to anyone who likes to run, whatever speed you are. I have never run anywhere like it and to be among great runners is a brilliant experience.

Booked a session in the early morning. Daniel was really helpful arranging transport from my AirBnB and his communication throughout booking process was great. Arrived in Ngong at around 630 and we were on our run soon after. Was amazing to run as the sun was rising and at a decent pace that was dictated by how quick I was going. Daniel took some great photos and videos as I ran that he shared with me later. As we ran he pointed out some the elite runners who were training on similar routes one of whom was the recent female diamond League 5k winner. After we went for some Kenyan tea and a walk around the village. Daniel gave me some good advice about training plans which I will definitely take on board. We also went to look at the training track before getting some lunch. This was a great first day for me in Kenya which helped me see both local life and also get an understanding of running culture in Ngong. Seeing Kenyans fly past you on their training runs is truly amazing and to understand their training techniques is really valuable. Great experience that I can highly recommend!!
Thanks Daniel!

I loved running in Ngong Hills. It was an incredible experience to run early in the morning, feeling the humid smell of the forest, touring villages that are still inhabited by native tribes and still the place where the biggest names in the world race train. Special thanks to my friend Daniel for his professionalism and team spirit by sharing a little of the local culture, providing walking tips and also guidelines on how to perform better in races. I want more and I will come back!

I recommend this tour and expereince so highly for both professional and amatuer runners. Daniel and his friends very welcoming and fun to run with. Daniel is such a nice person and was so genuine, motivated and interesting. I learnt so much about all areas of running and what makes the Kenyan runners champions. Such humble and passionate people. The altitude is a good challenge for fitness but scenery and fresh air is well worth it.
I recommend this very highly to anyone. Cheers Daniel. See you Soon!

This is an amazing experience and I would recommend it to anyone. Daniel is a great guide – friendly, informative, offering a few tips here and there but also just letting the experience speak for itself. I would run with him any time (he’s also a great photographer – don’t worry about trying to capture everything yourself, Daniel sent me 50+ great pictures as soon as we were done).
The Ngong hills are incredibly beautiful, and it is a profound feeling to know you are running where so many of the all-time greats have trained. The run is HARD (hills, altitude, dirt trails, etc.), but that is what you sign up for, and that is what makes it special. I am writing this the day after, and I am sore, but in a good way.
This was honestly one of the coolest things I have ever done. If you are thinking about it, do it!

I enjoyed this tour SO much! My friend and I both signed up while visiting Nairobi and we were picked up by a driver from our hotel and brought to meet Daniel and his team in Ngong. We were then able to go off on our run and we both really enjoyed it. We were actually able to run at different paces because Daniel was with his team and so we could split up a little. The scenery was spectacular, the trails wonderful to run on and it was fascinating to chat to Daniel as we ran. We were able to pick exactly our paces and duration, plus Daniel took me on a couple of extra loops so that we were able to keep joining up as a group again. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience (including going for some Kenyan tea after our run!) and I’d recommend it to any runner visiting Nairobi! Thanks Daniel!
