The tour begins in the city center, and from there we run to the western part of Odense. Leaving the mall, we explore some of the modern transformation of the city, when we pass new buildings and the preparations of the tram, opening in Odense in 2020, just near the mall and railway station.
Our next spot is the national television TV2, housed in the old buildings of the cattle market. From here we run along the green path Langesø Stien, towards the football stadium, ice hockey stadium and handball stadium – all home to teams playing in the best national league. A short distance from the stadia we will meet an interesting historic spot, when the 12 meter copy of Odin’s tower is reached – once the second highest tower in Europe next after the Eiffel tower in Paris, with a restaurant on top of the 177 meter high tower.
The tour takes us through the military area with training facilities for Danish soldiers, and a fantastic view over the beautiful green areas of western Odense. Along the cozy stream of Rydså, we follow the route of Eventyrløbet, which is a large social running event with more than 20.000 contestants. This is the part of the tour, where you don’t feel the large city, but only peace and quietness. This also provides great spots for a photo. Next up is the crossing of the manmade canal via the modern bridge called Odins Bro. Maybe we will have to wait for a ship sailing into the harbor and the bridge is up. Running on we come to the fantastic recreation area at the Harbor, with newly build exclusive houses, the public pool and the statue of Hans Christian Andersen placed in the water of the harbor. Finally we run over the railway tracks at the newly finished Bridge of the city getting us back to the city, where the tour ends at the tourist office.
