Description
We run past Elizabeth Quays on the beautiful Swan River and follow the river along Mounts Bay Road heading in a westerly direction towards the affluent suburbs of Crawley and Nedlands. You will have Kings Park (previously known as Mount Eliza) on the right side.
We will pass the Old Swan Brewery which dates back to the 1800’s and was originally a mill for timber-cutting as well as flour-grinding.
Before heading up into Kings Park we will run past the old Crawley Baths and iconic Crawley Edge Boatshed. The baths were the largest enclosed body of water in the southern hemisphere and were an important recreational facility in Perth for fifty years. The Boatshed is a well-recognised and frequently photographed site in Crawley.
We will take some stairs up to Kings Park to follow the roller coaster path which overlooks the city, river and Darling Ranges in the distance. Kings Park is a mixture of grassed parkland, botanical gardens, natural bushland and home to over 25000 plant species.
We will come to the treetop walk where you will enjoy unsurpassed views of the Swan River and Perth City. Artworks within the walkway include designs by the Noongar, the local Indigenous people and explain the cultural significance of the area.
You will have plenty of opportunities for some great photographs as we run to the State War Memorial; a place of remembrance for men and women lost at war serving their country and other tributes are spread throughout the park.
We will make our way down Mount Street; a place used by training groups for some steep hill running (luckily, we are going downhill!). We make our way back along the Swan River to finish up at Elizabeth Quay; a relatively new development on the river to bring the river and the city together again, creating new recreational opportunities for Perth locals and visitors.
This 9km tour is the amazing opportunity to run, to admire and hear the history of famous landmarks of Perth and get some local tips for your time in our beautiful city.

This was a fantastic tour and a great way to see a new city. Will was a lovely tour guide and showed me some really nice sights, gave some background to Perth/its history and also gave advice on other areas to run the following days. The pace/ drink stops etc were perfect. I really enjoyed my tour and feel it is a must do for runners in the area

Had a great run with Will on my first day in Perth. Excellent way to get a sense of the layout of the city and what to check out while I’m here, all while getting some exercise and a much-needed stretch-out after some long travel. Will had lots of recommendations of things to do and was very kind and accommodating when my jetlag kicked in 🙂 Do it!
