Description
Reykjavik or the “Smokey bay” in English is the capital of Iceland. It is assumed that the name Reykjavik derives from the hot-springs that were prevalent in the area and the steam they generated. It is the world’s northernmost capital and among the safest cities in the world.
The route is almost all well-marked on walking/running paths and is very popular among Icelandic runners. It guides you on a circular route around the city of Reykjavik and the coast. In addition, if your interested to suburbs of Reykjavik.
On the way, you will see lot of old and new churches. Also, the Perlan a glass dome which is one of the top landmarks situated in the beautiful woodland Öskjuhlíð. After that, you will pass Fossvogsdalur, the busiest valley of Reykjavík’s city. On a normal day, there are usually a lot of people walking in the valley, running and cycling. Moreover, the route take you to Laugardalur Park, including a botanical garden, zoo (features Icelandic farm animals and mammals from the country’s wildlife) and sport area.
Usually, we pick-up our runners where they stay (if in Reykjavik city) or we start from the Harpa Reykjavik Concert Hall.
