Description
Welcome to the world’s largest open-air museum run. Taking on the Go Running Rome 8km historical centre run will give you the opportunity to cruise through and stop at some of the world’s most renowned piazzas and monuments. Runners will gain insight into not only the rich history but also the contradictions that make up this great city. Beginning in Piazza del Popolo, one of Rome’s largest and most misunderstood piazzas, where complex layers of Roman history played out and the central monument dates back to Ancient Egypt! Major stops include the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Castel Sant’Angelo and the Pantheon. This unique experience allows you to see Rome’s most beautiful piazzas, Piazza Navona, San Pietro, Piazza Venezia -without tourists!
Heading our way through one of Rome’s most popular shopping districts, stopping at the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain, your guide will share shopping and dining tips for this central area of the city. Winding your way through Roman side roads you will see daily life in the centre play out –laundry hung from century-old windows, climbing ivy plants and possibly blooming bougainvillaeas, between Piazza Venezia and Piazza Navona. No visit to Rome would be complete without a stop by Piazza della Rotonda to admire the Pantheon, home to the world’s oldest unreinforced concrete dome and the beautiful Campo di Fiori–center of Roman social life by night and produce market by day. This private tour gives you all the sites and is lead by running guides who are eager to share their city with you! We will run this tour at your pace and are ready to stop for photos when you like. There are countless potable water fountains on the course, with water still brought in from the mountains by Roman Aqueducts!
