Runner on the ground - RATCHANEE

10 years of running

Get ready for a whirlwind of impressions for all your senses. This running tour is the perfect tour to experience the urban and modern Bangkok, where you get a feel of the Urban art scene as well as
exploring the street that Thailand is world famous for.

This running tour follows Charoen Krung Road., which is the Bangkok’s oldest paved road, completed in 1864. This area, still possess a European atmosphere with many exclusive colonial-style hotels and old abandoned warehouses. Runners will find themselves in awe of the BUKRUK exterior wall paintings and this is truly a chance to get a feel of the Thai Street Art scene.  In Thai, Bukruk literally means “invasion” and the Bukruk Festival which was held in January 2016 is still today the biggest street art festival held in Thailand. These street celebrations which attracted hundreds of viewers and participants left Bangkok with some incredible wall paintings made by some Europe’s and Asias leading street artists.

We will run along the small Chinese community hidden in Charoenkrung. The Chinese community, Talad Noi is the blend of local heritage and contemporary function added a more creative vibe to the district. Explore its maze-like alleys to see historic attractions, such as the two-century-old residential complex So Heng Tai, the sacred Hakka Chinese Rong Kuek Shrine, and the Roman Catholic Assumption Cathedral. More wonderful pieces can be found along Soi San Chao Rong Kueak, which is lined with colorful and light-hearted street art that references the area’s Thai-Chinese heritage. What’s unique about the artworks here is that a lot of them playfully interact with the shophouses’ facades and physical objects around the area.

After taking in the stunning and thought provoking street art, the running tour continues with slow-pace to China Town. The area around Yaowarat Road. , is fascinating for its Chinese pharmacies and gold shops and presents a sharp contrast to the area you were in just a minute ago. In China Town there are many market alleys populated by street food stalls and local items. Exploring the food experience in China Town is truly unique both from gastronomical point of view as well as urban point of view.  Typical of Yaowarat are its small crowded lanes filled with markets, that sell… well, anything you could possibly imagine.

If you are brave enough and forget everything you thought you knew about food, China Town will surprise you and the sooner you discover it the better. Your tour guide will be happy to advise on which stall to try out and what local delicacies not to miss.

This tour is the one of 10 Cool Running Tours to See Street Art Around the World. You’ll end in Chinatown, where you enjoy food heaven. Tour finish at the meeting point.

NOTE: food/tastings is not included in the tour price, so bring cash if you would like to dive into all the local delicacies.

    Incredible Experience for a Runner

    Deana

I signed up for this tour and I did not know what to expect. Ratchanee not only did an amazing job of showing me around Bangkok, but she also gave me the self-confidence to explore the city on my own. She gave me tips about places to get the perfect massage, hang out, and how to take the metro. As a lover of street art, she showed me things I would NEVER see on my own and on top of that, I loved talking to her. When I return to Thailand, I will do this running tour again without a doubt!

Do it and you will thank yourself for doing it!!

Can’t ask for a more beautiful run and much more importantly the awesome guide, thank you Ratchanee for all the memories i made during the run!!

Always wanted to run when in a new place, but never felt confident to buckle up and run, when there can be infinite things that can go wrong..that too especially when you can’t speak the local language. Thank you Go Running Tours for exactly catering to that need. Ratchanee is just the best possible guide i could’ve asked for. Highly knowledgeable on not just the street arts but of their artists too (gave me even the minute details of each and every art), very loving and patient and not just waits for me to take pics but also captures some very beautiful candid moments which turned out to be much more beautiful than the actual pictures even. And most importantly got to taste some really really tasty street food too with her.

Got a complete dive into street arts, local people’s cultures, some UNESCO recognized street arts, and a lot more. The route the run was planned right from my hotel till back was just awesome.

Highly recommend to have this run in your bucket list, and you will just thank yourself for doing it.

Street art and daily life - very cool experience

    Alison

What a wonderful experience, thank you Ratchanee!

I thoroughly enjoyed this tour – you not only shared with me the street art and stories/history, but also amazing architecure and the real art – the people in the local communities going about their daily lives. I would have been too nervous or felt too imposing to step off the main streets to experience this myself.

You also introduced me to the most amazing/refreshing guava drink to celebrate the end of our run. Thank you so much – I will always have very fond memories of our time together.

It was my first running tour, but certainly will not be my last! Amazing way to experience a new city. Highly recommend Go Running Tours and my beautiful guide Ratchanee – so kind, thoughtful and fun!
