Description
On Saturday, March 4th, Go! Running Tours invites you to join us at 8am in Hyde Park for this one-time only Women’s History Tour of Tampa! The tour itself will start and end at Jet City Espresso in Hyde Park and will take runners on an easy-paced jog that will include 4 official tour stops and plenty of additional history and local anecdotes in between. The other great part about this tour is that it supports The Spring, which is a local charity founded by four women in Tampa that helps victims of domestic violence.
The tour itself will start promptly at 8am and will include 4 stops along the way where runners will have the opportunity to rest while their guide tells them the history of the area. This is also a great time to grab some photos (tag @gorunningtours). Some of the key women / tour stops along the way include Clara Barton and her impact on Tampa and Cuba with the Red Cross, Jessamine Link and her contributions to the area with the founding of the 2nd Girl Scout Troop in the nation, Kate Jackson and many others.
Please note that this tour is not limited to just the main stops within Hyde Park. Your guide, Laura, will also tell you about local woman-owned businesses, local female artists, and other women who made an impact in downtown, Ybor or another area that we will not run through on this tour. Some of those figures include Anne Lowe, Fortune Taylor, Paulina Pedroso, Adela Gonzmart and many others. You will also of course hear the history of both the charity that you’re helping to support, The Spring, and the owner of Jet City Espresso, Jessica, while on this tour. Jessica has owned and opened a number of coffee shops in her 30+ year career, as well as being a musician, artist, airbnb host and mom (which can all be seen with a quick visit to her place).
We hope to see you out there and if you are interested in small group tours on other dates in March, please contact directly and we can check availability.
Happy Women’s History Month, and Happy Running!
