Chamois Hotel is a family-run hotel settled in the middle of Ancelle. It has a swimming pool during the summer with a stunning mountain view and can offer delicious local food in a welcoming environment.

About the Routes

There are two trail routes, the UltraChampsaur, and Les Fonds de Roxanne which both take place on Sunday. Each trail is waymarked (no navigation requirements), and there are refreshment stops that can provide you with soft drinks and snacks (dried fruits, biscuits and bananas). So whether you wanna carry water and energy bars with you or simply make some stops underway is entirely up to you! There are no kit restrictions so you can wear whatever you like and you don’t need to carry any of your own security or safety equipment.

Safety and security are well managed with first aid posts strategically positioned around the courses manned by the red cross and other volunteers and a red cross tent at the arrival. So all you have to do is turn up and run and enjoy the friendly atmosphere. Most of the participants are in it to finish rather than to win, so if you’re up for a fun-packed and sweaty weekend filled with happy and supportive runners, then this is for you!

The UltraChampsaur

Distance: 55km and 3700m+ of ascent

The UltraChampsaur is a tough but beautiful trail on mountain footpaths taking mountain passes and one of the best views in the Alps over the Lac de Serre-Ponçon. All finishers of the UltraChampsaur race receive 2 qualifying points for the Trail du Mont-Blanc.

Les Fonds de Rouanne

Distance: 26 km and 2800m+ of ascent

Les Fonds de Rouanne is a great alternative. It follows the second half of the UltraChampsaur up to the ridge and finishes on a summit with a breathtaking view of the Lac de Serre-Ponçon.

ITINERARY

DAY 1 | FRIDAY

Pickup from Gap train station at 6 PM. Once we have arrived at the accommodation we will go through the weekend in detail and explain where you need to be at what time. If there are people doing different races in your party we will make sure the logistics work!

DAY 2 | SATURDAY

14:00 PM: Race entry numbers available for collection from the village square

14:30 PM: Kids trail departs

17:15 PM: 10km trail departs from village square in Ancelle

17:55 PM: Arrival of first runners of 10km in the village square

18:45 PM: Prizes for 10km trail

19:00 PM: Pasta Party starts

20:30 PM: Meetup for ladies race for girls (and any boys who want to show off their feminine side!)

21:45 PM: Ladies (and any men who want to show off their feminine side) trail depart

End of the race, fireworks and dance evening

DAY 3 | SUNDAY

4:45 AM Meetup for the shuttle from Ancelle to Pont du Fosse

5:00 AM: Shuttle departs

6:00 AM: UltraChampsaur trail 55km departs from Pont du Fosse

7:00 AM: Meetup for the shuttle from Ancelle to Base de Loisirs in Orcieres

7:15 AM: Shuttle departs

8:15 AM: Les Fonds de Rouanne trail 26km departs from Base de Loisirs

11:50 AM: Arrival of first runners

15:00 PM: Prizes for Les Fonds de Rouanne

15:30 PM: Prizes for UltraChampsaur

19:00 PM: Arrival of last runners of UltraChampsaur

DAY 4 | MONDAY

Transfer scheduled for 10 AM. You will be transported back to Gap train station in the morning, so you can catch your train back home.

Trail Running Kit

This is not an exhaustive list, but some good recommendations of what you might want to bring along with your own personal favourite running kit. The most essential thing to consider when packing is the weather. Since it is generally hot here, light clothing is vital to reflect away the heat.

  • Trail running trainers (specific trail shoes that are suitable for uneven terrain)
  • Trail running socks
  • Light-colored running tops
  • Windproof top
  • Cap
  • Running shorts or leggings
  • Lightweight poles
  • Wrist band
  • Small rucksack or water carrier
  • Sunscreen (factor 30+)
  • Sunglasses
  • Head torch (if you are entering an event with a very early start time when it is still dark)
