Description
If you want to get away from the noise of the busy city and feel some gravel below your feet, breathe in fresh air, then this run to Zürich’s sacred mountain is for you.
Once we leave the train our run takes us though a forest and if you feel like you are running uphill, then you are completely right. We will have around 300-400 m elevation gain. But hard work will be rewarded on the top by an amazing view of Zurich and Lake Zürich.
This is a tour with many route possibilities so all runners, regardless of running skills and levels are encouraged to join. And if the elevation gain is a worry, then let us reassure you that your guide will make sure we run your pace and if stopping or walking is required, then no problem. You are in safe hands.
After reaching the tower and the official highest point of Zürich, we continue our run on the so called Planet-route (Planetenweg) on the ridge where you’ll have the chance to get an idea about the planet sizes and distances versus the Sun.
After Saturn we leave the main path and take some hidden stairs to a cozy cottage, called Teehütte for a tea (optional but recommended). This point will be our return point, from here only downhill awaits for us to lead back to urban life.
There are water fountains along the route, where you can fill your bottles.
For evening runs, please bring a headlamp/torch with you as forest routes are not lit. Your guide can also provide some if needed (just let us know).
TRANSPORT: WE meet at the Uitikon Waldegg station which is a 10 minute train journey from the city centre (or a 7 km warmup run. Super easy to get to.
