ITINERARY
DAY 1: ARRIVE IN TIRANA
Arrival into Tirana
Check-in and relax at our hotel
Catch up with the rest of our team on the balcony
Late afternoon urban 10km run (slow-paced) to explore this mysterious city
Welcome Dinner Ceremony
DAY 2: TO THE ALBANIAN ALPS
Early breakfast and kit check before heading to the Alps (5-hour drive)
Visit Skhodra city en-route for some cultural immersion of ancient Albania
We have a beautiful drive as we head into the mountains, via a spectacular canyon so we will stop for photos
We arrive into the quiet village of Vermosh our base for the evening
Enjoy an Albanian feast and discuss our running plans for the next few days ahead
DAY 3: HIT THE TRAIL
Breakfast
We transfer a short distance to the trail head at Lepushe
15km trail run including a traverse of the Ridge of Berizhdol
Cross the mountain border from Albania – Montenegro
We meet our support vehicle in the Grebaja valley which will drive us a short distance to our guesthouse in Vuthaj (approx. 45mins)
Relax with the afternoon to chill and recovery wild swimming in the Ala Pasha springs
Local dinner served from our guesthouse
DAY 4: ONWARD TO THETHI
Breakfast
Pack up our kit and leave it at our guesthouse which will be transferred seperately by mules
20km trail run through the Ropojana valley, where we’ll stop at the Eye of the Grasshopper – a beautiful natural pool
Arrive into Thethi where our luggage will be waiting for us
Check-in, time to relax and explore
Local dinner served in our guesthouse
DAY 5: THETHI
Breakfast
Full day relaxing and running trails around Thethi
Approx. 11km visiting the Stone Groves of Nderlysa, the Grunasi waterfall and swimming in the Blue Eye.
Local lunch before heading back up the valley to our guesthouse.
Full afternoon to relax and explore the old town.
Local dinner served in our guesthouse
DAY 6: THETHI – VALBONA
Breakfast
Pack up our kit which will be transferred by mules
18km trail run to the Pass of Valbona and the Valley of Valbona
Arrive into the mountain village of Valbona where our luggage will be waiting for us
Check-in, time to relax and explore
Dinner: Albanian feast served with local beer and wine
DAY 7: JOURNEY TIRANA, VIA LAKE KOMAN
Breakfast
Group transfer to the port where we take a beautiful ferry crossing through the fjordland landscapes of Lake Koman
Meet our vehicle at the terminal and take the onwards transfer back to Tirana (approx. 2 hours)
Check-in to our hotel with time to relax
Farewell dinner at a beautiful Albanian restaurant
DAY 8: HOMEWARD BOUND
Breakfast
Free time to do some last-minute exploring
Group transfer to the airport
Onward flight home

Trail grade:
Trail running in Albania is an absolute treat. The country is still well off the beaten path with very few travellers making it into the Albanian alps We expect the trails to be empty, travelling through beech forests, lush meadows, and open pastures. For the most part, we will be running on the soft grass of the entry valleys. All of the time being surrounded by the jagged peaks of the Accursed Mountain ranges. At times we will cross over from one valley to the next, climbing stepper paths with boulder and dry rock sections. Our maximum altitude will reach around 1,500m. Our large luggage will be transported by pack mules on the days we do not have access to a vehicle.
