Runner on the ground - ELISABETH NIEDEREDER

10 years of running

This 20 km running tour includes – of course not all – but most of the highlights of all the other tours combined. This is your unique chance to see the green, the old, the hidden and the main sights.

Starting at Vienna’ s city center we will enter the old imperial city with the beautiful baroque St. Charles’ Church as one of our first goals followed by the beautiful Belvedere palace.

Of course we will enjoy the majestic Ring Road with its architectural masterpieces and magnificent buildings like the Parliament, the State Opera, the University and many more. Alongside the Danube Canal runners will feel Vienna’s urban vibe where street art, clubs and beach bars portray the modern life of the capital.

Slowly the cityscape begins to change, as we arrive at the Prater, Vienna’s running hotspot and green oasis. We aim for one of Vienna’s most famous landmarks – the Giant Ferris Wheel and enter “Wurstelprater”. As one of the oldest amusement parks in the world it is quite the opposite of the surrounding green park and a popular place for local Viennese to hang out on weekends.
Finally we will reach the “Imperial Bridge”, that leads us to the grand finale – Danube Island. From here the runners have beautiful views of Vienna’s skyline with the Vienna International Center and Donau City Tower making their unique mark on the skyline. After a lot of impressions and one last crossing of the river we will head back together with the local subway.

Additional info:

Since this is a private tour, you will define the pace and have plenty of time to take pictures, if you so wish. There will also be at least one drinking water station during the run (only during summer). We are visiting some parks that open at 6.30 in the morning and close at 10 in the evening during summer, and at 7.30 am and 5.30 pm during the winter. It is possible to book this tour for hours outside the park opening times, but be aware that we will not be able to enter the parks, and the route will therefore be slightly altered. The tour will still be a great one we promise you.
