Description
Willing to combine sightseeing with running? Not having too much time available for training and exploring Zurich? Busy schedule but still in need for a run? Or simply not willing to stop your running routine just because you are travelling. This tour is designed for you! Short enough to suit all running levels while still providing the essence of central Zürich.
Our running tour leads us along the river Limmat, as well as through the Old Town and up to Lindenhof, a perfect viewpoint down to the city.
The cozy and narrow streets, old buildings, handycraft shops and restaurants offer a special atmosphere to the old town of Zürich. You will run through these streets and breathe in the atmosphere, while also having the chance to see the place where Dadaism started, the Cabaret Voltaire. We will run along a hidden and secret place which is Zürich’s oldest thermal bathhouse, the Roman bathhouse that is today more than 2000 years old.
As Switzerland is known as the country of banks, we cannot skip Paradeplatz, the biggest financial hub/center of the city, that evolved from being a pig market back in the 17th century.
Those fascinated by impressive churches are in for a treat. We will experience St. Peter’s church, the Fraumünster with it’s baroque steeple and the Grossmünster that with its two towers has become an iconic sight of Zürich. On our way back we’ll have a glimpse at the Opera House, which might not be the biggest one in Europe, but world-class opera stars return here year by year.
We can’t skip the historical Coffee Bar on Bellevue, the Odeon which opened in 1911. This was the place where everything happened: not only frivolous nightlife but also important political discussions and artistic movements had their roots here. Lake Zürich is a must-see on our run and of course a stop before we turn around! We promise impressive view regardless of the season.
Additional info:
Since this is a private tour, you will define the pace and have plenty of time to take pictures, if you wish so. There will also be multiple drinking water sources and toilets during the run. (please note that fountains might be closed during winter).
