My name is Ko Teik Yen. My surname is Ko and my friends called me ‘Teik Yen or TY. I was born in Ipoh, a small city about 200km north of Kuala Lumpur or the locals refer mostly as KL. I have been residing and working in KL for more than 30 years.
My passion is about going outdoors into nature and running. Hence hiking, running, trail running and camping become part of my second nature. It’s my dream to go around the world and see the world by foot, be it walking or running. Running allows me the sense of freedom and the feeling of aliveness, engaging all my senses in this moment with the vision of colours, shapes and patterns as well as the sounds, smells and my body movement - hence the saying, fully alive in this present moment which I find most fulfilling.
My professional career as a Psychotherapist and Mindfulness Teacher helps me gain a better understanding of the importance of living in the present instead of overthinking, constant worrying that lead to anxiety and/or getting caught with wishful thinking that subsequently lead to depression.
Running, especially outdoors, is the way for me to live mindfully in the present.
