Date: 21 – 22 February 2026

AARRRG you ready to run Gasparilla?
If you are in Tampa Bay for just one running race, the Gasparilla Distance classic is the one to run. Popular among locals and visitors, this is not only a race, it is a local tradition.

The weekend offers a mix of races—5K and 15K on Saturday, followed by an 8K and half marathon on Sunday—all starting downtown along scenic Bayshore Boulevard.

Inspired by the legend of pirate José Gaspar, the whole city leans into the theme. Expect to see runners in pirate hats, striped socks, or full-on costumes. Somehow, even those carrying plastic swords make it to the finish line.

With over 20,000 runners across the weekend, the vibe stays fun without feeling too crowded. Want a commemorative jacket with a pirate on it? Run multiple races to earn one—it’s a favorite among returning participants.

Skyway 10k

Date: 6 April 2025

One of the newest running races in the area, the Skyway 10K has already earned a spot on many runners’ must-do lists.

The course takes you up and over the Skyway Bridge, offering rare views of downtown St. Pete and the Gulf Coast.

Before its launch in 2018, only one other race had ever been held on the bridge—back in 1987, the year it reopened after collapsing seven years earlier. During the race, participants can spot the old bridge structure below.

It’s a challenging course, but finishing comes with a reward: live music, good food, and post-run drinks waiting at the end.

St. Pete Run Fest

Date: 14 – 16 November 2025

The St. Pete Run Fest is even newer than the Skyway 10K. St. Pete now has its own major running race that spans an entire weekend. Locals and visitors can choose from a half marathon to a kids’ run.

Participants get to experience the best parts of the city—starting at the Dali Museum, running along the waterfront, and through some of the city’s most popular neighborhoods.

Finishers are celebrated with live music and great food hosted by 3 Daughters Brewing. It’s no wonder this race is quickly becoming a local favorite.
