San Diego, often referred to as America’s Finest City, has incredible year round weather. Originally a Spanish mission and Presidio, which is reflected in the gorgeous architecture created for Balboa Park Panama–California Exposition more than a century ago. Museums and attractions old and new are represented here, along with a stunning array of flora and fauna. The San Diego Zoo calls this lush park home and a number of the bridges leading into the park or nearby offer gorgeous vistas.

The downtown area encompasses many neighborhoods that have both traditional and modern aspects, including Little Italy and the East Village. The water views from both the west and the south side of downtown will make the miles go by faster and lots of incredible restaurants will be seen, which you will want to try out later.

If you have extra time on a weekend or a day off from work, the half marathon tour will allow you to see the best of the bay along with Harbor Island and the Embarcadero. We’ll pass by a number of parks that many runners and cyclists enjoy and see downtown from several very different vantage points.

Downtown and Balboa Park have many half marathons that start or end in these locations so you can practice your strategy and pacing if you want to come run with the locals later on. Virtually every month has several 5k races and the flat area around the bay make America’s Finest City an incredible town to enjoy running. Morning and afternoon runs are available to take advantage of the weather and sunsets around the bay.

You might end up running more than one tour with Go! Running Tours while you are here.
