Antigua Guatemala is a diamond of a city. It is full of history and sports a beauty like few other cities.

Antigua Guatemala served as the capital of Guatemala and is today a well-visited UNESCO World Heritage Site. Surrounded by volcanoes and full of architecture from colonial times, this gem of a city is worth a visit (and worth a run :-)).

As an earthquake demolished the city and its many buildings in 1773, Antigua is also rich in preserved ruins of the original colonial buildings. The earth quakes were also the reason the capital was moved to Guatemala City as this was deemed a safer place.
