Famous for its UNESCO Heritage ice fjords, Ilulissat is the perfect entrance to life in North Greenland. With a population of 4600, it is the third biggest town in Greenland, and the main town in the north of the country, in the middle of Disko Bay.

Ilulissat means iceberg and you’ll soon see why. The town’s main attraction is the stunning ice fjord – one of the world’s fastest and most active glaciers. The fjord should be top of every traveller’s list. The sight and sound of the huge, moving ice sheets travelling through the fjord out to sea must be experienced to be believed – a breath taking natural phenomenon.

But Ilulissat offers so much more than just the fjord. Nature and wildlife lovers will be in awe of the country’s natural beauty.
