I’m Nela, a San Francisco local, community organizer, running enthusiast, history geek, and foodie lover. My drive for running was a result of my love for outdoors adventures. I began with hiking and walking miles around San Francisco and other Bay Area cities. Quickly I wanted more of a challenge and honestly a faster way to reach all these destinations so running was the answer.
San Francisco has such beautiful skylines, hills, and unique destination points that makes outdoor running so rewarding. My passion for food and the diverse food scene in San Francisco then became a way to motivate me to do longer distances or beat a personal record. I usually end every run with pastry, pasta, tacos, Korean BBQ, arepas, seafood boil, just treating myself to a delicious meal while not feeling guilty. My curiosity and constant need for expanding my knowledge also made its way into my running. I soon began to research iconic buildings, populated areas, even restaurants that I’d pass to learn its history or what makes it so special.
Running has become such a meaningful sport to me as it’s improved my discipline, helped me reach my goals and not only taught me so much of my lovely city, but of myself as well. Can't wait to hear all about your running journey!
