Welcome to our exciting tour of the historic Tempelhof Airport in Berlin! The airport was once the largest in the world and played a crucial role in the city’s history during the Berlin Blockade. In fact, it became the key location for Operation ‘Air Bridge’, which saved the city. Now a reminder of that heroic time is the monument to the Air Bridge stretching upwards into the sky in the square of the same name.
Tempelhof Airport operated in Berlin for 85 consecutive years. There was a place for records (the largest building in the world at one time); and for heroism (Operation Air Bridge saved thousands of lives). From here the Americans spied on Soviet troops. It was also where most European passengers departed. Now here, in the center of the capital, is a beautiful green park which is a pleasure to run through by the real airstrip!
Today, the airport has been transformed into a beautiful park where we will have the chance to run along the longest airport building, see the famous radar tower, the commemorative American plane, run along the rails in the airport courtyard and take a closer look at the Air Bridge Monument. But the best part of this tour is that we will also run along the real airstrip! Imagine yourself standing where planes once took off and landed, feeling the wind in your hair and the excitement of history all around you.

We booked this running tour for the distance being ran and it turned out to be a fantastic choice. My husband and I have different running speeds, yet love running and touring together. . Nykita delivered a knowledgeable tour that made us both feel included despite our difference paces while sharing fascinating insights into Berlin history. If you’re looking for an off-the-beaten-path experience with a side of unique history, I highly recommend this tour.

Had a great run with Nykita. We focused on cold war Berlin, we saw sites and places I never would have found on my own. Nykita was knowledgeable, and attentive to my interests. After the run he sent me an email with all the places were saw so I could go back. A great way to see Berlin.

What an incredible way to see the city of Berlin! Nykita was very knowledgeable of the history and city of Berlin. He even ran me back to where I was staying. Very fun and I would recommend this tour to all runners!!
