AUSTIN CITYSCAPE CIRCUIT – 16K

We begin at Auditorium Shores , a central trailhead known for its skyline views and easy parking. The route starts west along the tree-lined path beneath the pedestrian bridge, hugging the water’s edge. Soon, we cross a charming wooden footbridge that leads to Lou Neff Point , where the downtown skyline rises behind the trees for a perfect photo opportunity.

Next, we approach Zilker Park and continue beneath the MoPac Expressway , crossing the lake for the first time with a quiet, tucked-away section of the trail that feels worlds away from the city center. Once we’re back on the north shore, we head east, dipping back under the pedestrian bridge as the full city skyline begins to come into view.

From there, we pass under the 1st Street Bridge and Congress Avenue , gliding through the edge of the bustling downtown core and catching glimpses of the vibrant Rainey Street District . The trail continues east under IH-35 , entering one of the more serene sections—maintained largely by local volunteers—where things feel quieter and the path opens up to expansive lake views.

As we near the Pleasant Valley area, we pivot across the Longhorn Dam , a dramatic turn that gives us views of the entire east and west stretches we’ve just traveled. This crossing marks the transition into the final and most iconic portion of the run: Austin’s Boardwalk Trail.

Spanning nearly 3 miles, the boardwalk floats just above the lake’s surface, delivering some of the best uninterrupted skyline views in the city—especially striking at sunrise. You’ll see glass towers reflected in the water, runners and bikers passing by, and the natural beauty of the lake framed by Austin’s energetic skyline.

The route finishes right where we began—back at Auditorium Shores —leaving runners with the feeling of having experienced the full spectrum of Austin’s energy, from peaceful nature to urban vibrance. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or experiencing Austin in a new light, this tour offers a complete and unforgettable view of the city—all powered by your own stride.
